This is my One Week With
etsu entry and it chronicles my one week with...
etsu! (Now, who else?) It may not be really one week - in actual fact, it's only a mere four days - but there are enough photographs here to make you believe that it was one week.
Here's a brief summary of what we did:
- We saw a lot of fish.
- We ate a lot of food.
- We ate too much food.
- Of course, we also had good time.
Needless to say, this is going to be quite photo-heavy, so most of it has been packed behind LJ-cuts.
Day 1 - Normal shopping things
After lots of hugging and screaming and wailing (the latter two were mostly me), I realized that I was...hungry. D: So we went for lunch. Here's
etsu's grilled salmon...
GRILLED SALMON CONSUMER IN ACTION
My grilled codfish.
Then blahblahblah, we went shopping and lots of things happened which I can't be bothered to put down in great detail. THEN CAME DINNER TIME! We went to California Pizza Kitchen in TST, in spite of
etsu having just eaten the whole menu with her buddies a few days ago.
The glorious view of HK island outside the window. No photoshopping! I daresay that it's more marvellous than the view outside my window. (Surely you remember the monster window photo?)
What was meant to be a "grilled BBQ chicken salad", which turned out to be "too much". This can't be salad. We could barely finish half! And to think that some people in the world can eat the whole thing on its own and still have space for more... :S That is a discomforting thought.
I can't remember what this was, but it was filled with nice melted cheese and even more chicken. We've got stuff ourselves with chicken before H5N1 really hits.
MORE CHICKEN! The famous CPK grilled BBQ chicken pizza! Good stuff.
Too much for two people, really.
BEST MISC. PURCAHSE OF THE DAY! They're so cute! We actually bought the same thing. It's a reversable stuffed toy of sorts. The photo shows the two different sides of the toy. SUPER CUTE, MAN.
Day 2- Ocean Park
Ocean Park is Hong Kong's best amusement park. Sure, we have Hong Kong Disneyland, but I'm going to boycott that shitty place and go to one worth the ticket price. Hong Kong Disneyland is shite. I'm not going.
If you were to meet both of us today, you would find us to be very rude and vulgar people. Our language was very obscene on that day - there were lots of "shit"s and "fuck"s. I think I said "fuck you" more than twenty times (not to each other, though).
Cooling down on the ferris wheel. That day was especially hot and sticky. The ferris wheel was the best thing next to airconditioner.
Ocean Park is much cooler than what this photo shows. This photo serves no justice!
After the ferris wheel, we went in search of some REAL air conditioning. So we went to Ocean Park's superb aquarium, Atoll Reef. I love Atoll Reef to bits. I love fish. I like to eat fish. I like looking at (big) fish. I like fish, I like fish.
I like eating squid too.
I don't think I'd like eating these. They were very interesting looking fish. I wasn't even sure which bit was the head and which was the tail, and I'm still not too sure about it.
The first level of Atoll Reef! Atoll Reef is amazing. The fish get bigger and bigger at each level.
etsu and I had our Nemo moment here. That's Nemo, not emo. Ocean Park is too happy to emo!
I like eel. I like eating eel.
CRAZY BIG FISH. THIS FISH IS 1 METRE LONG! OR MAYBE EVEN MORE! DEAD UGLY TOO. :{ I think it's a Napoleon fish? Apparently, Ocean Park has the largest population of Napoleon fish amongst all the Asian (or even worldwide?) aquariums.
These fish were huge too. They were definitely longer than 1 metre. Very scary up close.
Lunch! Our lunches were almost identical. We both had two rice roll things each, a bottle of water and some cake from
Maxim's People kept staring at us. I bet they were jealous that we had decent food while they had to eat overpriced McDonalds.
Mmmmm, twas yummy...
...although
etsu said her second roll tasted like crap.
After lunch, we went to see the 'Jelly Spectacular' exhibit. I think the exhibit is poorly named. Jelly Spectacular, wha?
HEADACHE INDUCING NEON LIGHTS! But for jellyfish, I will stare.
I like eating jellyfish. Jellyfish is good. Yes, everything must lead back to food!
My shit camera can't capture motion very well. These jellyfish were damn fast.
A very haunting photo. Imagine seeing this glowing blob floating in the corner of your room one night when you're going for a midnight pee. Just imagine this scenario.
CABLE CARS! WHAT'S GOING TO OCEAN PARK WITHOUT THE CABLE CAR?!
I really don't understand how some people can adore goldfish, let alone goldfish with unusually big faces and deformed cheeks. The goldfish at the Goldfish Pavillion were quite disturbing in appearance.
But after the goldfish came the HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY...
PANDAS! THE PANDAS! PANDA!!!!
ZOMG PANDAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
And some not very realistic robot dinosaurs. But again, I am not in an objective position to say that they aren't 'realistic' because I've never seen a real dinosaur before.
We then went to this 3D 'aztec jungle adventure' thing of sorts. I was actually expecting it have funky plastic trees and stuff inside. I shouldn't have had such high hopes. It was really just a very dark room with paintings done in neon paint on the walls. 3D glasses had to be worn for the '3D effect'. Not much of an adventure.
BUT THE COOLEST THING WAS THAT MY TEETH GLOWED UNDER UV LIGHT! CAN YOU SEE MY TEETH?! THAT WAS COOL.
Day 3 - Starbucks, Towngas Avenue
We spent most of the day rotting away in Starbucks by knitting and playing video games. Power to the customer!
Then came DINNER! We decided to splurge and go to
Towngas Avenue. My goodness, that place is pricey. It's even more expensive than lunch at the Grand Hyatt coffee shop (I know, that's not a very good comparison, but...). But it was good. I don't regret going there!
BREAD. I didn't really like the bread itself, but it's bread, so I ate it anyway. I had 1.5 loaves.
etsu has only half because she's a sensible bread eater.
Lovely surroundings. The strange thing about the restaurant is how they have seats by these massive windows. Windows are generally great, but they're not so great when the windows are beside a busy pedestrian walk. It's awkward to have random passer-bys stare at you and your meal. Good thing our window was relatively small.
I had seafood risotto. When the chef made this, it was shown on LCD TV screen scattered around the restaurant! I can be assured that my food is made from scratch and that I'm not eating leftovers.
etsu's lobstor linguine. She says it's good. It had pieces of lobster that you could actually see, so I guess it's good too.
My Baked Alaska and
etsu's lavender souffle. Sort of wish I got the souffle instead. :/
Day 4 - Tea Time
Not the most formal of afternoon teas, but it was better than the fruity piss-looking thing I had years ago.
Waiting patiently for the food to come...
Yay! Only two levels, so it's not traditional. I wish there was more. :( I was hungry.
First level: Smoked slamon 'sandwich wannabes', mini pie things of sorts. One had mushrooms and the other had a strange curry chicken sort of thing.
Second level: Dessert! Strawberries, some sort of cake (I didn't eat it. It had fruit), chestnut tart and a chocolate mousse-filled tart. Mmmm.
But my hunger got the best of me and I ordered more food in the end. This is my panini.
And that concludes my four days with the wonderful
etsu. I have a feeling that I will only be able to see her for one week per year from now on due to our different locations. London may be closer to Canada than Hong Kong, but it's by no means a walk next door.
etsu I MISS YOU, WE HAD MOTHERLOADS OF FUN AND WE SHOULD HAVE HAD MORE. :(
