2011 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami
Just so people know - I am alive and well. My beautiful harbour city of Ofunato, Iwate Prefecture has been devastated by the recent earthquake and tsunami. I cannot put into words the magnitude of the destruction and the depth of the loss that the community is currently facing.
The Australian Dept. of Foreign Affairs and Trade coordinated an evacuation of myself and two British nationals also living in the city - Simon Jon Green of Reading and Robert "Bobby" Bailey of Lincolnshire. They have been evacuated to Hiroshima and Morioka respectively to be reunited with their loved ones. I am now safely back in Sydney with my family.
Thanks to everyone who's been asking after me. Please keep the people of Japan in your thoughts and prayers. I believe with all my heart that with the ongoing help of the international community, Japan can and will recover from this unspeakable tragedy.
