I get what you are saying in relation to the Batman TV show and possibly the cartoon too (I never really watched it that much) but the Batman comics are/can be very dark and disturbing. Both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight explore issues introduced and tackled in the Batman comics. Those comics were all about the duality of Batman and Bruce Wayne, how he struggles with the fact that he may be just as disturbed as as the criminals he fights. Oh and I get what you mean about the voice...it doesn't bother me that much...but they never explain whether it is some kind of electronic thing making his voice that way (which I could live with) or whether he just puts it on...and that would seriously fuck with your voice...plus he would lose it sometimes. The main thing that gets me about the voice is that it sounds exactly like Bruce Wayne putting on a deeper voice...I mean you can totally recognize it as him, how the fuck do people not just go 'Omg Bruce is that you?'
Anyway I freaking heart both those films...I love teh intense...I always get goosebumps watching em :D
I kinda figured the comic was probably more serious. I guess I should have said MY Batman will always be the cheesy version, because it's what I was raised on. Canon schmanon. (;
