Yesturday was a lot of learning experiences and ended in a hell of a lot of gorgeous. Adrian being the amazing knowmetoowell person that he is gave me a photography book that blew my fucking mind and two awesome comics. We then wandered about and talked of things. Ian talks to him really freely and that is such a nice fucking thing to see, especially when he barely said a word all day earlier when we were hanging out with Riley(from brooklyn).

In the end all three of us found a collapsed concrete dock area on the East River (here in brooklyn) that we climbed through a broken fence to get to. Some areas had broken down so low that you were barely an inch above water, and I sat there and felt the waves under me.

Already they're builing a condo up the block from it. And after we left (enjoying the just post-sunset light before we did), I realize that might not be there more than a few months from now.

I hate what they're doing to Brooklyn. The arguement that it brings government parks (which have fucking security that harrass people and are so regulated that they really are catering mainly to rich families) and 'saftey' (aka: I get bothered by the cops for walking to work. Yeah, that's nice) I feel is bullshit in comparison to the fact of how much they're destroying, tearing down, and charging to be here.

I feel like a piece of shit for even thinking 'well I won't be here anymore soon' because walking away from a situation I can't [help to] win. But on the other hand, this is one of those situations that there's nothing you can do about it.

Same note: They gutted and 'restored' (yeah, ok) one of the 3 level family homes a block from our house. Now it has fancy balconies and the like. They'll probably be charging $1500+/month for each apartment (and I think that's me guessing low), which is $400 more than I payed when I started living there three years ago. They're trying to gentify the area so fast it's fucking ridiculous.

Sorry, this all just pisses me off way too fucking much.

sociopolitico, fucking gentrification, self, hackles up
