when I left this morning, my bed was a fucking mess. This is because my work desk is cluttered (will be fixed tonight).
On that note: I worked with eyelash yarn today and it made me >8[ for some 5-10 minutes or so.
However, after wanting to pull your hair out for the first few minutes of learning how to use it, shit becomes smooth. I need to pick up a comb, though.
So the head is 1/2 sculpted (I did it from top to bottom instead of face to back of head). I really like this meathod, though stuffing might be a bit more difficult at first. Stuck in a pair of grey saftey eyes for placement and then realized that I'll be giving him shut eyes. I'll do those with clay, most likely built directly over the saftey eye (cling wrap between the eye and the clay), bake it, and then glue it right back on.
The hair's basically all done, I think. I wasn't planning on hair, which means this is a different [sleep]Walker than I'd planned. Which is fine.
This one's hair is stark white, like itself, and is just a small tuft in the front. It has a white braid (also eyelash yarn, so very wild and stringy and crazy/soft dread) with a wrap of two kinds of blue over it. Little bits of hair kinda peek out from it, which makes me happy. I think I might put a chunky star bead sewed into the hair as well, but we'll see.
So, once the eyes are made (work on them tonight, maybe? if not, then tomorrow), I need to get wire. I'm gonna start on the arms/hands next, though I'll be needing wire.
To try and explain what I'm making: I'm making strange monsters (called [sleep]Walkers)I came up with and Ian added the key ingredient to. They are tiny little cute bunny-esque things, which lop ears actually turn into giant arms. By giant, I mean the arms are twice as long as they are. The hands and arms are human, and the hands are very bony and long fingered. A walker's actual normal limbs are tiny and useless, from what I can tell. Just little nubs.
I have a few ideas for these. Besides this one, I hope to be making others. I want to make a pair of kittens (as in rabbit kittens) with their arm-ears bounds together at the wrists by wire or rope and just hang them somewhere in my house :3
Long post is long, and I'm talking about it because I've gotten this far (more than halfway with the head), and once a head starts showing features and a personality is when I know I'll be completing it.
I'll try to have pics soon-ish. Ian's camera (digital) just hasn't been happy lately and his manual won't help in getting pics done soon.
