It wasn't really blurry. Not really. But he kept squinting anyway as if there was a film to his vision that he couldn't clear. Or like he was seeing something he couldn't quite place. And squinting at it would force it to make some sort of sense.

Yeah. That.

His hand started to lower slowly from holding the bottle near his chest, before bringing it back up again. It was a repetitive motion that by this time in his life was often involuntary. Bring back what he needed and then begin to forget that it was there. Bring it back again. Fade off. Remember and fade.

The wince came on slow as he tilted his head to the side slightly. Like water was attempting to slowly trickle out of his ears. Like he was a pitcher setting to pour itself. Brains tumbling out and sloshing all over the floor and his old boots. A thought that made his teeth grit, as though they felt loose in his head. If he breathed out heavily enough he was pretty sure he'd feel his ribs rattle like shutters. He wasn't really sure what his skin was clinging to anymore.

"Lay it on till the dawn.."

His voice was a thicker slur, a lower mutter, a more loaded chain of coughs that worked past the Malboro Red in his mouth. Those chains would last now for a few minutes, sometimes. Racking away at him until his eyes were bloodshot and he was spitting thick gobs tinted in red. Kairo had mentioned something earlier about a doctor, but he didn't like those, so he'd ignored it.

It made him want to slowly sink to the floor in a pile made of himself, Sawyer, and Ian. Three sets of breathing, one much smaller and light while the other two bore through more heavily. He could sleep there, comfortable against the heavy movements of Ian's sometimes moving in his slumber and the softer comfort of Sawyer's hand twining into his hair.

"I'll be lonesome when I'm gone.."

He didn't realize right away that he had been slowly making his way onto the floor until he was already there, landing heavily and coughing a few more times before settling himself. Leaning his head back, he rubbed the back of it against the wall behind him, fumbling slowly in his pocket before pulling his phone out. Dialing a number, a thick cough sounding again as he heard Ian pick up, to which he cleared his throat and

".. Hey."

"Lay it on till the dawn
Everything we done is wrong
I'll be lonesome when I'm gone
Lay it on till the dawn.."
