i got a job. for real.
as of tuesday i'll be working at True North Wilderness Program, taking teenagers "in crisis" out into the woods of upstate vermont. we'll be doing some hard-core group work, some intensive behavioral awareness building, and enough talking about emotions and patterns to even be a lot for me. i'm so psyched and so nervous. i've got a good set of people-in-crisis, angry-teenager, supporting-emotional growth skills, i'm comfortable with that end of things i think (though from the sound of it these kids are intense... a lot of precautions to keep them from running away, cutting themselves, overdosing, etc.) it's this living outdoors in northern vermont all fall, winter, and spring that is starting to make me nervous as it keeps getting colder and rainer with each day here.
hopefully i'll be on a two-week-on, two-week-off rotation, living half of the time with myles in northampton, the other half in a few state forests around the mad river valley in VT.
california still has my summers though.
