Calvin knew better than to trust her.
Although he wanted to.
It is hard to confess to people you love; your worst qualities, and your darkest secrets. Sometimes, when we love someone enough, we lie to them because we can not bear to hurt them.
Calvin never wanted any of that. He only wanted to know the truth, he'd rather live in the real world hurt and scorn than be the fool of a fabricated reality. She said the same to him one day.
That is why he sought those truths.
And as he watched them from a far, galavanting side by side, smiles on their faces. He remembered the promises she made under the sparkling stars, "I won't keep anything from you. Not ever."
He was sad. He hated to be wrong twice.
