Review: Big Bang’s New Album “Remember”

Big Bang (Korean: 빅뱅) is a Korean hip hop & R&B group composed of five members, each contributing different vocal or rapping parts. They are considered to be the new face of the YG Family. Debuting in 2006, they quickly became popular, and experienced great success in 2007 with the release of their single "Lies," shooting the five-member boy band into super stardom as one of the biggest boy bands in Korea. Big Bang has been noted for their music as well as their taste in fashion, becoming famous throughout the country in the process.

Here is a review of the entire new album:

Track 1: INTRO - 모두 다 소리쳐 (Everybody Make Noise)
Normally Big Bang's intros are really good and this is no exception. It really does set up the mood for the rest of the album. It sounds a lot like YMGA's new stuff.

Track 2: 오, 아, 오 (Ohh, Ahh, Ohh)
I hope they gave credit to the Scatman on this one because they definitely sampled the song. Upbeat techno groove, overall a pretty good song.

Track 3: 뷹은 노을 (Red Sunset)
The first single off of the album. It is a very interesting take on the original. They put in all the typical Big Bang sounds in the song such as the electronic delay sound used in "Lies" and the xylophone sounding sound used in "Crazy Dog". In the end, I like the original version much better.

Track 4: 반짝반짝 (Sparkling sparkling)
Sounds a lot like a T-Pain song the way they use the vocal manipulator. This song is ok.

Track 5: Strong Baby (승리솔로) (Seung Ri's solo)
This song confuses me. It's the only solo song on the album and they decided to have Seung Ri do it? Sorry to all you Seung Ri fans, but he is arguably the worst member of Big Bang. In any case, this song sounds a lot like a Justin Timberlake song. You can hear the Timbaland influence in this song.

Track 6: Wonderful
I can see this song being one of the songs they promote. It's very catchy and in the typical Big Bang style. But there is no real climax point to this song which I was disappointed about.

Track 7: 멍청한 사랑 (Foolish love)
Still a big beat behind the song but this is the slowest song of them all the songs. Actually this is my favorite song of the whole album but that's just the emo me talking. The lyrics are very sad.

Track 8: 하루하루 (Acoustic Version) (Day by Day)
Well the title explains itself. I like this version a lot better than the original version. It's very chill with the blend of the acoustic guitar and piano but they turn it up at the chorus and bridge. Eventually you'll hear the string section join as well. Beautifully done.

Track 9: 거짓말 Remix (Lies Remix)
Again the title explains itself. They changed the piano part a little bit and they made the chorus part much stronger. Just hear it for yourself. I like it better than the original.

Track 10: 마지막 인사 Remix (Last Farewell Remix)
I was very interested to see how they were going to do this one. They have a constant synth sound in the back on the first verse which in my opinion is too much but what they do with TOP's part is awesome. The bridge is good too.

Track 11: Remember
This song is in the Japanese album (in English) too so it just may well be the next song they promote. This song reminds me of YMGA's new album a lot. I think it's just o.k. You hear the infamous "A" being yelled in the chorus.

Overall a pretty good album but I do have some complaints. If you look at the track list 3 of the 11 songs are just remixes of all the Big Bang hits in the previous three mini albums. You call that a full length album? I was expecting more new songs. This is great marketing however. Advertise it as a full length album (even though your only making 8 NEW songs), change the bands look and concept and poof! Money money money. On top of that another one of their songs is a cover song and another one took a sample from Scatman. So 6 original new songs total. This adds to the stereotype that Big Bang gets famous from other peoples music.

I listen all song from album. It's so cool . I give 5.

album, big bang, music
