I've got blisters on my fingers

Mar 19, 2006 10:01

get up around eight

go online to check my mail and read news
take a shower

have breakfast, which is usually cereal followed by any variety of dark bread or roll with gouda or emmenthal cheese, a herb spread, currently a horseradish spread, margarine, and a marmalade- currently peaches and something else orange- possibly apricot

whilst I eat, I read some german and/or learn german

I take vitamins also during this time- zinc, vitamin C, and magnesium- but mostly because they are tablets that dissolve in water and taste quite nice

then I write for about four hours

I take a lunch break which looks a bit like breakfast, but no cereal and salami is thrown into the mix and possibly a mustard; I have also been known to eat thuringer during this time and grilled cheese; there is also a delightful delicacy that elena brought back from Damascus made by her host mother, which is an aubergige-esque member of the nightshade family, but much smaller, stuffed with walnut, pepper, and something that gives it a nice kick- all this is immersed in olive oil

I then write some more, hopefully at least two hours, but I shoot for four if I can.

Then I read. I am on a Shakespeare kick, but need to pick up Ulysses again. I also dabble in a bit of Tristan Shandy.

Then I am in bed around 12.

Yes, there are many missing hours there. I do play Solitaire a bit and go online again and talk to Elena of course, but these things vary and usually interrupt the above mentioned.

But now Ariane is back, my neighbour and Elena's sister.

That means coffee at least once, which includes at least one game of backgammon. We possibly have breakfast together and normally have dinner. In the evening we watch a movie together, which is a bit embarrassing because we are there so often that I think the nice girls there think that I don't do anything. Sadly, this is right in the sense that my life is confined to a two block radius.

I also need to shop in order to buy food.

Usually once a week there is a trip to some remote part of Berlin that consumes a bulk of my day. I also have been going to the post office a lot recently, which is a nice walk and wait in line.

Elena gave me a surprise visit last Friday. I made that noise you make when you can't breath, but still yell.

I make my bed. I open and close windows. I tie curtains. I clean and wash things. I don't really organize, which is a shame. I am going to go the movies today with a few friends- Birte and Inte along with Ariane. We will be seeing Brokeback Mountain. I seem to only have friends who are girls here. There do exist several male friends, but I haven't seen them in several months. Which is my fauly because as the above showed you I am a busy person seven days a week.

I try to walk up straight, but I hunch over my keyboard. My eyes are also worsening.

I don't drink alcohol anymore. I floss. I trim my beard regularly to 3.5 mm. My hair is short and growing in a bit like a mad scientist.

That is pretty much it. I do listen to quiet a bit of music. Currently the White Album, disc two.

I was also sent girl scout cookies.
