2005

2005 - done and done.

The biggest happening this year was finally changing jobs. The sameness, pressure, and politics of my old place of employment gave me a case of constant low-grade blues for much of the first half of '05, and a while before that. Since starting at the new place in July, my day-to-day routine has felt much lighter and less burdensome.

My core friend group went through some turmoil in May, leaving us all to re-draw our relationships with each other on a one-on-one basis. This worked out better with some than with others, and I've been left missing a few people.

I became an aunt, which is awesome.

I had some rewarding insights about my health - seemingly small things shouldn't be underestimated.

I went to Baltimore, Tampa, San Francisco, Albany, Las Vegas, London, Atlanta, Chicago twice, and Los Angeles twice for work. I took a vacation drive from Los Angeles to Monterey to Sonoma to San Francisco. I saw U2, Laurie Anderson, and Neko Case twice. I went to the Big Apple Circus, Hurlyburly, the Gates, the Wooster Group, Shockheaded Peter, Glengarry Glen Ross, the US Open, and the sadly last Va Va Voom Room. I rollerskated at the Roxy. I drove an all-terrain vehicle down a dusty path to the edge of the Grand Canyon, singing all the way. I walked across the Thames at sunset.

Overall, I feel like this was a year that swept some dust away. It feels like I've started seriously getting my house in order and making myself open for more everyday adventures.
