2016 Dear Yuletide Author Letter
Hello! Another year, another Yuletide! I'm so excited you'll be writing something for me :D
Here are my standard things I say every year:
Things I’m never into: death fic (unless it’s in the canon source material), non-con/rape, darkfic, unhappy endings (unless it’s in the canon source material), unrealistic dialogue, crying at the drop of a hat, misunderstandings to the point of disbelief
Things I don’t necessarily gravitate towards except on occasion: bdsm
Things I’m always into: dirty talk, phone sex/sexting, pining, romance, happy endings, makeouts, wall sex, smoking up, AU's, meet-cutes, grand gestures, mixtapes.
Tropes I'm never into: Wingfic
Tropes I like: fake dating/married, fuckbuddies/friends with benes to lovers, woke up married, kidfic, coffee shop au's, high school/college au's, soulmate aus
Tropes I'm less into: bed sharing, amnesia fic, a/b/o

1.Monty Python RPF - Eric Idle/Michael Palin
I said: Honestly I'll take anything. I've always shipped these two. If you're looking for more specific wants, I love friends to lovers and fuckbuddies to lovers and honestly anything with these two falling in love on the set of flying circus or a break up makeup or years down the road getting together again would be so epic. But seriously, just go crazy.
Additional comments/inspiration: Okay, so I've loved these two forever. Used to follow the lj comm for them, but I can't recall if I've ever read any fic? Anyway, when I saw this nominated I just had to request it. I'll seriously take whatever you decide to do here. Always wanted to write about them and now that someone's offered it's your excuse to write that fic you never have? Go for it! The above is just a guideline but seriously, I'd be so thrilled with anything. Here's an interesting tidbit I found recently, though, if you'd like to run with it however:
Palin detailed a split in the group between Cleese and Idle on one side, and himself and Terry Jones on the other.
“John and Eric had lifestyles, how can I say it, they were slightly more complicated. ... They wanted to go on holidays in Barbados and all that, rather more than Terry [Jones] and myself, who were just happy going to have a pint at the pub,” he said. “So they were stars and we weren’t, basically, and the trouble with stars is they can be a bit difficult.”
“So there were difficulties every now and then between those who had higher expectations of life, and those of us at the humbler end of the writing spectrum,” he said.

2. Backstreet Boys - Nick/Howie
I said: I recently fell back into popslash and have been rereading a ton of stuff and UGH I love these two. I love them to death. I'll be happy with anything. Present day, past, whatever. Friends to lovers, friends to fuckbuddies to boyfriends, domestic shit, anything.
Additional comments/inspiration: yeah, you can bet I'm capitalizing on this fandom getting in here :D i just love the relationship between these two, how sweet it's seemed over the years. I saw some photos recently that were so ridiculously domestic and kind of scream 'we've been totally married for years and never realized it' fic. Or, mistaken as a couple. Or fake dating. Or any of these things yet they've been fucking on and off for years and all they needed was to get it together enough to admit they're committed to one another. If any of these things speak to you, go crazy! Otherwise, as always, I will literally take anything you come up with.

3. The Breakfast Club - Brian/Bender
I said: Every year I always want the same thing (which I've gotten in the past yet can't get enough of) and that's some type of future fic. I'm just so nuts about these two and would love to see what could happen there. But honestly anything from my likes list in my letter would be so perfect to.
Additional comments: not too much to add, here. I love when the script is flipped and it's bender who turns out to be the successful one. I love the thought of how these two can fit into one another's worlds, at the end of the film and if they do at all, or if they don't until years down the road. Hell, I'd even be down for a complete au and how they'd fit together in a completely different context.
4. Veep - Dan/Jonah
I said: This season gave us such amazing Dan/Jonah and tbh I wouldn't have been surprised if it had gone canon. At one point I really thought they'd go the fake dating angle after that on stage hand holding and the boyfriend line ugh. So if kill for that or just more campaign trail stuff or ANYTHING. I'm not listing her but I love Amy too and also Dan/Amy so if that's something you wanted to include in the background, please feel free!
Additional comments/inspiration: This season really was so wonderful for Dan and Jonah and hell, Jonah in general. Not too much to add to the above. Here's some inspiration:

5. The Social Network - Mark/Eduardo
I said: Anything, honestly. I gravitate toward post-depo/future fic but I'll literally take anything. I love angsty stuff with these two but gosh if you could also give it the fix-it ending it deserves I'd love you forever.

You don't really need this, I'm sure, but this is my Social Network Fic and RPF primer that I did way back when. It does go into a little bit of detail of what I personally love about the text/characters. Plus I'm just proud of it, so I'm linking it. I cannot verify the validity of many of the links anymore, I must say.
I've got a few mixes here and a tumblr tag here if you're interested in those things.
Personal thoughts on the text as it pertains to fanfic: Like I say in the primer at one point, I don't read the harvard years as them ever having been together. I read it more as Eduardo pining and Mark being oblivious. So I'm less interested in stories in which they're together in Harvard, but that being said I've read some amazing ones like that that are great. Also, altho I do say I prefer happy endings, you'll note that I'll accept unhappy endings if that's canon. But if it can at all be avoided, that'd be wonderful too (I also did something I've never done since falling in love with this pairing and read up on the real life mark and eduardo: Eduardo apparently said he has 'no hard feelings' in 2012 and in 2014 he left a 'happy birthday facebook' note and praised Mark a lot. So. Yeah. Basically all the reconcilation fic is where I'm living right now and if that speaks to you at all then GO FOR IT).
6. My Own Private Idaho RPF - River Phoenix/Keanu Reeves
I said: Requesting this again bc these two really were my original RPF ship. These two said often they were soulmates snd a soulmate au would be both amazing and heartbreaking as fuck. Maybe one of those name on wrists things, oh god. But honestly I'll take anything. Canon, au, whatever.
Additional comments/inspiration: I got a gorgeous hippie/soulmarks treat last year and I'm greedy for more fic with these two as I love them to death. Cheating again and copying my words/inspiration from last year:
I'd love something that shows them being drawn to each other when they originally met (on the set of Parenthood) or you could even take the soulmate thing literally and run with that. Anything would be wonderful. I'm also okay if you want to break my heart into pieces and include River's death.
Seriously, whatever you want to do. If you'd rather go a complete AU route, here's a few ideas:
a) hippie au - they meet in a commune or something.
b) band au -- meet cute - concert goer/musician
c) hitchhiker au?
