Elaborate, if necessary: History

Cages are meant for animals. Cages are meant for rapists, murderers, and all of those who have committed crimes. Now cages are meant for girls and boys like Sue, a young woman who is apart of the Clover Project. The Clover Project was created by the military. They searched for special children, children gifted with special powers. They were sorcerers.

The Clovers were ranked by power. The weakest clovers are the one leafs while the strongest are the three and four-leaf clovers. The five wizards being the nation’s protectors allowed the three-leafed clovers human interaction. It is said that it would take all five wizards to defeat one three-leaf, but to defeat a four-leafed clover would be impossible. That is why when Sue was discovered, it was decided that she would live out her life alone. It was too risky to allow her the freedom of things like forming friendships, or even worse, falling in love. It could jeopardize the nation’s national security.

When Sue first entered the cage, she was only four years old. The girl never knew her Father, but her Mother was there. At first, her Mother was afraid of her. The child she bore was powerful, strange, just not right, but then the woman realized that Sue was worth something. Sue’s own Mother turns her into the government without a second thought, takes the money, and leaves without even a goodbye to her daughter.

After that the girl was met with experiments and tests. Like a lab rat, she was the government’s specimen. Along the way, they discovered many things about the girl. For instance, any sound no matter how small she can hear. From far off she was even able to hear a singer named Ora, a one-leaf. General Ko, whom Sue affectionately calls Grandma, allowed her to call Ora on the phone despite the fact that by allowing this, General Ko was breaking the law.

Quickly, Ora and Sue seem to hit it off. Many times Sue always had wished to meet with someone who wouldn’t care about her powers. Even though they would never be able to see each other, they became best friends, and even sang a song together. Ora also told her about Kazuhiko, the man she loves. Not long after, Ora explains to Sue that she is a One-Leaf and her only power is that she can see the day she will die. She explains to Sue that she knows that she will die, but first wants to sing Sue and Kazuhiko a song. On stage, she sings, and on stage she dies. That day, Sue lost her first and only best friend.

Later, Kazuhiko is called forth from retirement to bring the girl to Fairy Park. She embarks on this journey with no intention of coming back to the cage. Sue’s first and final wish was that she wanted to be happy. Along the way, Sue and Kazuhiko form a bond of friendship- Maybe even a bit more than that.

The journey is dangerous, but once they reach Fairy Park they encounter a statue of Ora. This is where Sue had wished to meet both Ora and Kazuhiko. The man states that she isn’t alive any more, but Sue says that she is, and presses a hand to his heart. Quickly things spiral downhill from there. The Wizards were taking down the Fairy Park along with Ora’s statue. Injured from debris, Kazuhiko asks for Sue’s aid so he can protect them. Once they’re out of harms way, the two-leaf Gingetsu brings him to safety, but leaves Sue there. She sings as the Park falls to pieces, sitting atop of the still standing statue of Ora. The park explodes, killing the girl. It had never been her intention to go back, she promised the council that once she reached the park, she would destroy herself. Despite this she smiles softly, her final words being “I’ve found happiness. Thank you, Kazuhiko.”

Personality

‘I wish for happiness. I seek happiness. To find happiness with you, to be your happiness, so take me somewhere far from here.’

If there is one thing that Sue certainly wants, that would be company. Being isolated from mankind for so long left her in a rather lonely state. She’s very honest in her feelings. If you ask her if she’s lonely, she won’t lie. The girl has even said that she likes to sing, because then she isn’t alone. Being trapped in a cage for so long has made her that way, but she isn’t a bad person. In fact, she seems very fragile at a glance. You wouldn’t think that she was the four-leafed clover.

Sue is very true to her emotions as it is quite easy to see how she’s feeling through her expressions and words. When she is pained, she cries, when she’s happy she smiles. Despite being experimented on, she is actually a very kind and gentle person. If you’re sad she’s the type of person that says just the right thing to make you feel a bit better about the situation at hand. As the manga goes on, it becomes very obvious that she cares for her friends. When Kazuhiko says that he is going to stay up day and night to guard her, she immediately offers to stay awake so he can get some rest.

Besides that, Sue is an extremely hopeful person. For years she wished that she could find happiness and that she could meet Kazuhiko and Ora at Fairy Park. She never did give up on that wish and it most certainly did become a reality. Surprisingly enough when she agreed to destroy herself once reaching Fairy Park, she stayed true to her word. She didn’t try to run away or fight it. Her simple wish had been fulfilled and that really was the thing she wanted most. Along the way she was able to feel sadness, hope, fear, happiness, and even that strange thing we call love. After all those years her wish had been granted, that was more than enough.

Powers and Abilities

The Clovers have a number of capabilities. One would be that as the Forth Clover has the ability to detect the other Clovers and their powers. A higher level Clover can track a lower level Clover’s position as well. Another prominent power is the ability to manipulate technology through magic. Along with that Clovers can also make weapons appear out of thin air along with having the ability to teleport.

An example of this is when Sue cuts the transmission on the army’s electronics so they couldn’t find her and Kazhuhiko. Another good example of her powers is that she knows exactly what is happening to Ran, a fellow Clover, and is able to know how he left his cage of his own free will and was eventually reborn.

Besides that, she was able to level all of the Fairy Park herself.

What are they bringing to Nuadoria?: Nothing but the clothes and wings on her back.

Third-Person Sample: When Sue opened her eyes her whole body ached. She was dizzy, as if she had just run for a very long time and wasn’t allowed a single drink along the way. As she lay on her side, it felt as if her stomach was in a knot. The girl’s evergreen eyes opened wide as she slowly pushed herself into a sitting position. “This… I’m alive?” At a loss for words, she pressed a delicate hand against her heart.

It was still beating, but how?

Fairy Park had been enveloped in flames along with her, this shouldn’t be possible, but it was. Again another dizzy spell hit her and she furrowed her brows, urging it away. “I can’t sense any of the other Clovers.” Her voice was soft as she spoke to herself. Sue felt very much alone as she finally found the strength to stand. The streets before her were eerily empty.

“Just what is this place? It isn’t anything like I’ve ever seen before.” There was a small fluttering noise and she looked up to the bright blue sky. Birds were fluttering overhead, real birds. Sue smiled brightly as a lone feather fluttered down from the sky. Outstretching her hands, she caught it. It felt strangely soft compared to the mechanical bird’s wings. It was black like the night sky, it was beautiful.

“I will treasure this.” With the birds it didn’t seem all that eerie anyone. Yes, it was new, but it was welcomed. It was rare for her to see a living animal. “Oh, maybe I’ll see a cat again.” Sue’s heart fluttered a bit, it had been a fat cat but so very cute! The girl felt a bit worried and confused, but there weren’t any bars holding her here. There were houses, stores, and in the distance it looked as if there was an ocean as well.

With her eyes filled with hope and wonder she began to walk toward the sound of waves crashing. Perhaps this is what true freedom felt like.

First-Person Sample: [The device clicks onto video to reveal a girl in her late teens. Evergreen eyes are curious, as she never has been able to use video before. General Ko wouldn’t allow it.]

Nuadoria is this city’s name.

Everything here is so strange but so beautiful. The birds here are real, not just mechanical, and the sky is so wide. There aren’t any cages either, just house after house.

… I’m sure Ran and Gingetsu would have liked it here. The Generals wouldn’t have been there to confine them, but they were still happy in the end.

My name is Sue. Are there many other people here? I would like to get to know you all!

… I hope that didn’t come off a bit strong. You see, this is my first time doing this.

[She smiles gently. The feed blurs and the pavement comes into view. The transmission ends.]
