for the fist time, since i started participating in Brigit's Flame, i've written two entries for one prompt, Gear.
this is what the prompt says:
Gear
If Donne was wrong when he said "No man is an Island", he certainly isn't wrong anymore. In this world we live in today, we're surrounded by miracles we don't understand- electricity, computers, cars, televisions, telephones... even soda. There's no way I would be able to reproduce carbonization if I was isolated from society. If I'm not an island, then what am I? A gear of society?
Or is the "gear" the stuff that society gives me-- the cars, inkwells, flashing lights and running water that the world says I can't live without, while what's more important lies not in society, but within the inner workings of myself? Am I the sum of what's left once my gear has been stripped away from me?
It's time to get that muse in gear, my friends. Take this topic, make it your own, and let's see what you can do!
I like both my entries equally well, even though they are vastly different. And use of the prompt is open to interpretation. I like luggage.
I mostly need to know which people think would be the best to get me to week 3?
