Day 23 of No Shave 09

Jan 23, 2009 17:34

actually, beard comin in pretty nice. nothing to complain about there!

but the main reason i wanted to post today is to share musical discussion. first off, as i said before, everyone should she & him's first album, "volume one." seriously.

but aside from that, as i was searching online for music last night on amazon, i ran across some amazing stuff. by a group called the vitamin string quartet. apparently, it's a string quartet that covers popular music. i bought their covers of journey's don't stop believin', guns and roses' sweet child o mine, and nirvana's rape me.  seriously, this group is highly addictive. chris said i was giddy about it last night. i can neither confirm nor deny these accusations. oh yeah, and i bought jamiroquai's album traveling without moving. it's just all around hot.

today, i stopped by shepherd's fold (a locally owned xian store...) and (finally) bought relient k's "anatomy of tongue in cheek," which i have been meaning to pick up for quite some time now. but as i was listening to the album, the lyrics to for the moments i feel faint hit me hard, and i wanted to share them with you...

Am I at the point of no improvement?
What of the death I still dwell in?
I try to excel, but I feel no movement.
Can I be free of this unreleasable sin?

Never underestimate my Jesus.
You're telling me that there's no hope.
I'm telling you you're wrong.
Never underestimate my Jesus
When the world around you crumbles
He will be strong, He will be strong

I throw up my hands
"Oh, the impossibilities"
Frustrated and tired
Where do I go from here?
Now I'm searching for the confidence I've lost so willingly
Overcoming these obstacles is overcoming my fear

Never underestimate my Jesus.
You're telling me that there's no hope.
I'm telling you you're wrong.
Never underestimate my Jesus
When the world around you crumbles
He will be strong, He will be strong

I think I can't, I think I can't
But I think you can, I think you can
I think I can't, I think I can't
But I think you can, I think you can
Gather my insufficiencies and
place them in your hands, place them in your hands, place them in your hands

Never underestimate my Jesus.
You're telling me that there's no hope.
I'm telling you you're wrong.
Never underestimate my Jesus
When the world around you crumbles
He will be strong, He will be strong
man, those are some powerful words.  the power to overcome sin and pain and fear and doubt and addiction.  we could never be enough in and of ourselves to know true victory, and it's only through the grace of Christ that we can.  what a song, indeed.

vitamin string quartet, she & him, relient k, jamiroquai, victory
