Davey called me this afternoon from work really upset about how the day was going. It always worries me when he's upset over something since he takes things pretty hard and very personally.
His supervisor told him that he was making one of the girls at work uncomfortable by all the attention he was giving her. He was very shocked and upset by this considering that he was under the impression that he was pretty good friends with this girl. He explained that he was sorry if he was making anyone uncomfortable and he was unsure as to why should would feel that way since he had made no attempts to hit on her or say anything close to flirting.
He was venting about it to me on the phone and I was getting really upset over it. I just felt angry at this girl. He works in a call center where you are assigned rows and break times. His schedule exactly matches hers. They had made friends and started talking and eating lunch together. It really boggles my mind as to why would go mention something like that to the supervisor without confronting Davey about it first. She hadn't even given any signs that she was uncomfortable. He said that it had occurred to him that since they had the same schedule that it would be possible that she would get tired of his company so he would occasionally eat alone or find someone new to talk to so she wouldn't feel crowded by him. It really bothers me that she did that since it's something that isn't taken very lightly in any work environment. It could cost him his job. I really don't understand it...not at all.
When he gets home I'm hoping to take him out and do something nice since he's been feeling really dumped on lately...poor guy.
