And Torchwood is ready.
While there were certain things that proved to be issues for me in Torchwood, the formulation of Jack's team and how much they meant to him was not one of them. I see Torchwood's Jack as a very broken person, if less so in Series 2, and that is something he shares with Ianto, Gwen, Toshiko and Owen. People broken by touching the things man was never meant to know without the protection of a guardian angel.
(Songs in my mind fit better from Jack's perspective, but it switches sometimes. The first song seems to me to relate to the Doctor feeling obligated to wait for the Doctor but also feeling the loss of the people around him and the fear of losing the team he has in S1 and S2. The second relates to the reliance the team have on one another.)
