Okay, so I know I've been remiss in posting for a while, unless it was fic/50 related. But I must tell you that my heart? Has been completely captured. By a gen Narnia fic How did this happen?
(
Cut for ramblings about Narnia and incest and my strong love for a fictional character. )
I mean, they are basically adults with no time for the folly of children. Or of men, really. Not when they have led armies and lost comrades at the ages of ten and thirteen.
I could completely get behind this actually happening. I love that one character refers to them as "the vicious bastard or the one with a complete lack of anything resembling a moral compass" because it just goes to show that even their peers regard them with thinly veiled wariness. They know these two men aren't quite right, and from watching them together they must conclude that they were either raised by savages, or mentally unstable. Which they sort of are.
And, God, don't get me started on that last one. I couldn't imagine being one of those parents. To have children who defer to their eldest brother all the time, or speak in riddles involving unicorns and broadswords... Not to mention the 'air' around them that the writer speaks to: they act as though they're doing you a favor, instead of merely complying. Christ. To hear from someone else's mouth that your son is a savage bastard killer? The same son who has held the youngest daughter and brushed dirt from his younger brother's face? It leaves me feeling heartbroken and uneasy.
God. I could read all the words like these. I wish there were more in this arc, but it doesn't look like there will be. Sad panda.
