the DADT thing: it's not a repeal, and it's for sure going to be challenged. but it's absolutely a step in the right direction. I'm really, really happy about this. I feel like this was kind of a milestone, even though I was pretty sure it was going to happen sooner or later... it just feels good right now

Federal Judge Halts Don't Ask Don't Tell Enforcement
Evan held his breath as he clicked on the link and read through the article. His heart started pounding and he kept blinking in disbelief.
He stood up quickly and made his way to the door, but it opened before he could reach it.
"I was just coming to find you," Evan said.
Ronon shrugged. "You found me."
"There's been... I just got some news..." Evan bit his lip.
"Some of the Marines have been talking," Ronon said.
"Yeah?"
"Some were more than talking."
Evan raised an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
Ronon stepped closer, into Evan's personal space. "They said it was okay to be together now."
"It's not official," Evan said, voice shaking.
Ronon stopped in front of him, leaving barely an inch. "Close enough."
"What if we start and they take it away?" Evan whispered.
"What if I die fighting Wraith tomorrow?" Ronon countered.
"We've talked about this."
"Let's have what we can have, until they take it away or make it permanent."
"I don't know if I'll be able to let you go."
"Then don't," Ronon answered simply.
"Ronon," Evan breathed.
The Satedan leaned down and closed the gap between their bodies, and as their lips touched, Evan wondered if he'd be able to keep the best thing he'd found.

When I was writing it, I just tried to put myself in their shoes and that would be something I would worry about, unfortunately. =/
