fanmix: it's not that we're bitter (it's just that our eyes are open): volume 2

Apr 09, 2013 13:48

This is part two of "it's not that we're bitter (it's just that our eyes are open)." Part one is here.

Please note that while several of these songs have themes about sex, that isn't what I'm implying. Sometimes I include a song just for a certain line, or the way it feels to me overall, rather than the actual meaning. This isn't a project about Bruce sleeping with his Robins at all - though, as always, your personal interpretation is just as valid as mine, and if that's how you see things, I'm not here to stop you. :)

The city featured in this cover is New York.

it's not that we're bitter (it's just that our eyes are open): the fanmix project
volume 2: until one day everything broke

Plastic Cups (Skybox)
You force us inside, you never gave us a chance to survive
And the taste of her guilt is like a sweet plastic pie that could never go down
We can pour all our happiness into a plastic cup
We don’t have anything left, so won’t you build us a plastic place to get us through
Things have gotten really out of hand

Such A Fool (22-20s)
Don't you know you're such a fool
To keep on acting like you do
You're a fool to play things cool
When you've got everything to lose

Blood Makes Noise (Suzanne Vega)
I think that you might want to know
The details and the facts
But there's something in my blood
Denies the memory of the acts
Cause blood makes noise

Dead Man Walking (The Script)
Already broken, already gone
Already know you're moving on
I'm a breathing, talking
Dead man walking
Already see it, in your face
Already someone, in my place
I'm a breathing, talking
Dead man walking

Hurt (Johnny Cash)
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

Hatefuck (The Bravery)
There will be no tenderness, no tenderness
I will show no mercy for you
You had no mercy for me

Weak (Skunk Anansie)
And now I sit here I`m all alone
So here sits a bloody mess, tears fly home
A circle of angels, deep in war
Weak as I am, no tears for you
Deep as I am, I`m no one's fool

Something Beautiful (Clem Snide)
You make me wanna
Smoke every cigerette
That's ever been made
You make me wanna
Make the rules up as I go
So no one can play
You make me wanna break
Something beautiful

Left Me For Dead (Rob Dougan)
And it didn't trouble your mind
It did not disturb you to see me decline
You turned out my lights, you put me to bed
You left me for dead

Wake Up (Alanis Morissette)
It's easy not to
So much easier not to
And what goes around never comes around to you
(get up get up get up off of it
get out get outta here enough already
get up get up get up off of it
wake up)

The Origins of Ruin (Redemption)
Hand on heart, head in hands
The light is fading now
It cannot pierce the darkness
Nothing left to build upon
Except the mounting fear that none of this was worth it

Eyes Open (Taylor Swift)
The tricky thing
Is yesterday we were just children
Playing soldiers, just pretending
Dreaming dreams with happy endings
In backyards, winning battles with our wooden swords
But now we've stepped into a cruel world
Where everybody stands and keeps score
Keep your eyes open

Laugh, I Nearly Died (The Rolling Stones)
I'm so sick and tired
Trying to turn the tide, yeah
So I'll say my goodbye
Laugh, laugh
I nearly died

I Gave You All (Mumford And Sons)
And how can you say that your truth is better than ours?
Shoulder to shoulder, now brother, we carry no arms
But I gave you all

Other Too Endless (Polly Scattergood)
Just a little just a little too late
He said I made the biggest mistake
And I never ever ever ever meant to cause you harm
It can't be real
No it can't be real
If I close my eyes then maybe I won't feel
I'm an other too endless
So do you think I should end this

The Last Song I'm Wasting On You (Evanescence)
So run, run, run
And hate me if it feels good
I can't hear your screams anymore
You lied to me
But I'm older now
And I'm not buying baby
Demanding my response
Don't bother breaking the door down
I found my way out
And you'll never hurt me again

Send the Pain Below (Chevelle)
You used to beg me to take care of things
And smile at the thought of me failing
But long before, having hurt
I'd send the pain below

My Body is a Cage (Oxford London Temple Version) (Peter Gabriel)
I'm standing on a stage
Of fear and self doubt
It's a hollow play
But they'll clap anyway
Set my body free
Set my spirit free
