The thing of it is, Cam thinks, John is good at this - not just okay, but really, really good. He's a natural with kids in a way that nobody ever expects, and he has a lot of fun with them. The fact that it's Cam's twin nieces sprawled across John's chest, all three of them sleeping soundly after an afternoon of running and shrieking and playing - well, Cam's heart feels about ready to burst out of his chest.

The water splashes out of the hot tub as Vala giggles and whispers something into John's ear. John's eyes darken as he looks at her, grin spreading over his face, and Cam can just see his hands moving beneath the bubbles.

He's glad they decided against swimsuits.
