I just adore fics like this, capturing behind-the-scenes moments and building them into a character study. I almost teared up at number 5.

Thanks. I really love writing ones like this, too - gives me a chance to get to know the characters better, or my versions of them, at least.

And number five? I figured John's utmost show of respect would be a real, heartfelt salute, and after what Atlantis goes through after it gets to Pegasus (in a story I haven't written yet), Mr. Woolsey's earned it.

I totally agree about the salute! I think it would mean a lot to Woolsey because I sort of see him as thinking maybe he lacks a little bit of something due to his non-military mindset.

Exactly. It would be the ultimate mark of respect from John, and it would be the thing that means the most to Woolsey.

The second story of yours I've read this afternoon and another success. What great examples of Sheppard. They show his compassion, his determination, his quiet hero character and his lovely farewell to Woolsey was just soooo delicious. Glad to say I have a box of hankies beside me!!
