We pride ourselves in having a society that believes that every man, woman, child, and (particularly bright) golden retriever deserves to own their own home, regardless of means. We also pride ourselves in showing businesses and banks that if they make bad choices and don't succeed, we'll be *happy* to foot the bill for their rescue! Our legislature is so wonderful that they will bow to pressure and fear mongering and spend nearly a trillion taxpayer dollars without even so much as holding hearings or considering less costly or more effective alternatives!
