physician heal thyself, yo. i've never, nor been with folk who have, spent New Year's Eve pining for what's come before. from childhood, it was an evening to reflect, remember, celebrate, but most importantly, look forward at the endless possibilities; like Fall, and the promise of new beginnings. sure, we mourned those we'd lost to time, distance or death, but we inevitably turned our memories to ones of laughter and joy; celebrating lives that existed in the first place.
the turn of a new year allows us the opportunity to re-invent ourselves should we so choose; even if only a little at a time. showing up is half the game.
