Hah, never such a thing as TOO much information, I shall check all these out. I'd like to hear more about your enjoyment of Kill La Kill! It doesn't sound like quite my thing, but I love hearing why people love the thing they love. And what kept it from being entirely a masterpiece?

OKAY HISTORICAL AUs! Well, I don't read World War II things, but other than that, I love historical AUs. (I imagine there's other (mostly recent-history) settings I would also not read - like, Gulag-fic, or something, but people don't tend to write those that I've seen.)

But, okay, Regency fic! Prohibition era fic! Romans! Vikings! I enjoy it all. I have a worse than average grasp of history, so inaccuracy doesn't bother me - I really don't notice it, or if I do, I am just proud of myself for catching the anachronism - but it is an extra delight when people write well-researched fic that I can learn from. But I love historical AUs in particular because I love it when characters I love are thrown into a different system of values and power dynamics.

I have not written historical AUs myself - partly because, seriously, VERY BAD AT HISTORY I STILL HAVE NIGHTMARES ABOUT THAT ONE EXAM, partly because I think that you need longer stories than the ones I usually write to properly develop a historical AU. But! It could still happen in the future!
