Dr. Banner was let out of the back of the black car and gave a nod to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in the driver's seat. As she sped away, he took the opportunity to glance around.
The tower gleamed in the mid-morning sunlight, reflecting off the many polished glass and steel surfaces, as well as off the unmistakably over-sized sign proclaiming STARK INDUSTRIES.
He couldn't help but pause and take a deep breath. After all that time in S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, he relished the rare moment of relatively unsupervised freedom. Bruce was more than happy to finally be able to leave. As the other Avengers had gradually left to relocate to Stark Tower, he had remained behind. He was told, officially, that he was needed to analyze the remains from the Loki incident, but the constant whispers of "security risk" had him worried that this would become another cage.
Still, here he was, walking through the bustling lobby as inconspicuously as possible and pressing the elevator call button. Waiting for the doors to open, he fiddled with his single worn bag slung over his shoulder and shifted from foot to foot. Looking around, he enjoyed the wonderful anonymity. For once, nobody was giving him a second glance, no fearful looks, no probing eyes, just another guy waiting at the elevator.
He smiled as a young lab tech passed by, struggling to push a cart laden with an impossibly large piece of gadgetry. He wasn't exactly sure what that thing was, he thought as the kid rounded the corner and the elevator bell chimed, but he was starting to enjoy the idea that if he had this place to call home, he might someday get to find out.
