Sunday we went to the Festival of Trees at the World Golf Village. It's a fun thing to do as well as being a charity fund raiser.
My absolute favorite was a very Florida tree. It was all surfing and ocean related. Well, with a singing gofer underneath it but still. It was white with two starfish dyed blue as the topper. The tree skirt was a fishing net. The ornaments were various beach and ocean related things: flip-flops, surfboards, surfing Santas (although one or two of them were surfing martinis), flowers, flamingos, sunglasses, sailboats, etc. (What! You think the sailboats might have played a part in our opinion of the tree?!)
Our second favorite was
animal prints:
The two most creative had modeled figures out of branches. One was a Grandmother coming out of the top of the tree. Or maybe a better way to describe it was the lighted and decorated portion of the tree was her skirt. The other one was from a veterinary office and it had a dog and a cat modeled out of branches with just a bit of fur on them. They blended in really well and I couldn't get a good picture. In fact they blended in so well that the in-laws and their friends missed them. I jumped about a foot when I noticed them. They were very cute though.
