Anthrocon 2008

Jun 29, 2008 19:40

I went to Anthrocon yesterday.  I got started about 7:30, arrived at Pittsburgh about 11:30, and got registered by noon.  I managed to park in the convention center's parking garage, where I saw my first furry :)

After wandering around a bit, I found the dealers/artists area.  It was interesting to actually see several of the artists whose work I've seen.  I bought a magnet from HollyAnn,  and a book of comics from John "The Gneech" Robey, which he signed for me.  The main purpose of my trip however, was to go find and bother Miss Mab (Amber Williams), who does DMFA.  I had hoped to get a sketch or button, but she was booked up.  We exchanged pleasantries (while she was trying to hold a conversation with two other people and work on a sketch at the same time :)).  I spent most of the time generally wandering around or sitting on one of the benches in the hallway, people watching.  They had a fursuiters' parade, which was neat to watch, since most of them had put a lot of work into their suits.  I took a few pictures (see below), but mostly I just watched.

I was surprised how popular my badge seemed to be.  I guess a fat slob wearing a t shirt with "PERV" in big red letters on the front and a badge name of "some creepy guy" just made people's day! :D

Anyway, parade pics:

I also got out on the balconey and took some pictures of the bridges over the Monongahela river (that's fun to say:)).

I stopped by Amber's booth a few times to bug her :) and see if she had caught up, but she never did (she tried her best, though).  I did at one point go across the street to a convience mart and bought a couple bottles of water and a couple cans of some Arizona kiwi drink.  I drank one, it was pretty good.  I sat the other can in front of Amber as a gift.  It's probably still sitting there :)  I made one final check right before closing time (5PM), but she still was sketching frantically.  I did manage to buy a drawing from her book though, so at least I got something:)

I drove back home, made it back about 9:30PM, and that's that.

Well, except for a couple pics of Amber:

That is Tikiman next to her
