...has so much more than the one here in MD - around twice as many rides, ranging from the incredible to the dismal. Barring the cloudy weather, intermittent drizzle, and three hours travel time required to get there (thanks to Wade for driving, and Elisha for lending us her roomy van), it was a pretty incredible day:
Superman - not to be mistaken with the Superman ride in MD, this one is of the flying-face-down variety, and in my opinion much better than the similarly designed Batwing here in MD. The best part was the unexpected inverted loop that threw us against the backs of our seats - so great we had to go back and experience it twice more right before leaving.
Kingda Ka - the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world was also one of the shortest rides I've ever been on. Nevertheless, the few brief seconds we had to contemplate the fact that we were shooting straight up 500ft at 120mph and then free-falling back down were enough to bring Elisha tears of joy, and the rest of us the singular thought of "holy shit this is pretty damn cool."
Great American Scream Machine - pretty typical loopy roller coaster, exciting and relatively painless.
El Toro - the fastest wooden roller coaster in the country and also one of my favorites (right up there w/ superman). The first drop was steeper than I thought a wooden roller coaster ride could manage, and the ride in general was longer, faster, and smoother than I expected. good times.
Space Shuttle - basically an exaggerated pirate ship ride that flips all the way over a few times. Elisha got owned. lol.
Rolling Thunder - ow. when was the last time that park maintenance went over this monstrosity?
Ferris Wheel - an amazingly bad idea by Wade and Lucy, given how cold and windy it was, how long we spent up high, and how we were all wearing t-shirts.
Kiddie Coaster / Train Thing - the seats were small, I had to brace myself around turns so I wouldn't get thrown at Elisha next to me, and she was definitely making much less of an effort to keep her hair from whipping at my face.
Nitro - pretty typical up-down hills roller coaster w/ the minimal lap restraints. It had a lot of tall and fast drops, and is pretty much on par w/ the Superman ride in MD.
Bumper Cars + Arcade - some things never get old :D
Sponge Bob Square Pants 3D Thing - lolworthy 3D movie-simulated ride, a good way to end the day.
Houdini's Great Escape - either somebody invented gravity field generators that kept us from falling out of our seats, or it was actually the room walls that rotated swung 360 degrees over and around us - a cheap but still somewhat nifty trick; the Sponge Bob ride was better.
