And yet all I could think was...

SIX FLAGS!
- the only reason I was up at 6:30am on a Saturday morning.

Wade, Lucy, Elisha, Vogel, and I left Denton at around 7:30, caught the 8:05 bus from the big "M" to the metro station, then took a ride on the metro, followed by another lengthy Metrobus ride, and finally got to Six Flags at 10:30.  The highlight of our three-hour journey was an encounter with a PG County cop who was evidently worried about three asians and two white guys wandering from the metro stop to a gas station for food.

Six Flags itself started off great - we started by going on Two Face, then The Wild One (which was fortunately one of the less painful wooden roller coasters), then Superman, the amazing display of physics at work that left Elisha with tears of joy :P.  I'm not quite sure what came next, but both Joker's Jinx and Batwing were closed for the morning, so I think that was when we went on the Roar (painfully rickety wooden coaster w/ sharp turns), then left the Gotham area for the time being.

We spent a surprising amount of time in the little wild-west themed corner of the park.  After two rounds of bumper cars, somebody had the brilliant idea of going on one of the water rides, so we eventually found ourselves seated inside a circular craft, about to be thrown at rather choppy waters ahead.  There were only two places on the entire ride where we hit waves hard enough for water to spray into the craft, but thanks to my usual luck, I got hit both times and my back was soaked by the time we got off the ride.  It's interesting to note that Wade sat opposite me, which wasn't great for balancing the craft, and it just so happens there's a clear correlation between how close someone sat to me (and thus how far from wade) and how wet they were by the end of the ride.

After a lunch break and my somewhat fruitful attempts at using the bathroom hand driers to dry my shirt, the rest of the group went on a nearby spinny-bull ride (you know, one of those things where it's essentially circular motion withing circular motion within circular motion, w/ the net result being the riders getting throw around randomly).  It was a pairs-only ride, so I waited around with my back to the sun and listened to zombie nation playing at one of the game stands while waiting for my clothes to dry.

We revisited Superman so Lucy can ride it (and she seemed even more moved by the extraordinary physics of it than Elisha was), followed by the Batwing, which was great as always, and evidently too great for my dorm key to not fall out of my pocket in the middle of it.  The service personnel were rather unhelpful, so the only thing I could do was go back there at park closing.

Returning to the wild-west themed area, we spent some time on bumper cars again, followed by a bit of DDR and air hockey at the arcade, then came the worst decision that I could've possibly made yesterday... I agreed to go on the spinny bull ride.  I'm not sure how other people can possibly like that infernal contraption so much, since it was clearly designed to nauseate people more than to thrill them.  The first time through was okay - it was only when Elisha decided to stay on for a second and a third ride that I started regretting having got on in the first place (we had to ride in pairs, so I didn't really have a good way of getting out).  It's amazing how fast the thrill of the ride subsided with repetition, so the next two rides were pretty much just a miserable combination of getting hit by Elisha's flying hair and bracing myself against the seat so I wouldn't get thrown into Elisha on one side or the metal barrier on the other.  My back was tired from the bracing by the end of the third ride (evidently wade had the same problem), and I was well enough conditioned with an aversion of small rides by then that I opted not to go on the swinging pirate-ship thing multiple times with the rest of the group afterwards.

It was near 6:00pm (park closing) by then, so Vogel and I made the long walk back to Batwing, only to be told by the personnel there that I had to go to the guest relations offices first to fill out some form or other for my lost key.  We walked all the way to guest relations (which was around the park entrance), and I filled out the form, only to be told that I'll get a call if the park personnel ever find it (I'm not allowed to look for myself).  We met up with the rest of the group and headed back via bus and metro.

The cordon bleu calzone I ordered for dinner was probably the highlight of the evening...
