So this is the New Year...
In case you didn't hear, we, Self Against City, released our record yesterday on Drive Thru Records. Its called Telling Secrets to Strangers. It is now in stores everywhere. If you get a chance to make it to the store, pick it up and tell me what you think.
To those of you who already knew and/or already bought it, my gratitude to you is overwhelming. Its been the craziest year for each one of us in so many ways. We are more than excited to see what the new year brings us. We hope you can be a part of it with us.
For myself, 2006 brought many experiences and many lessons. I have been redeemed, clarified and transmogrified. My heart has been broken by many and saved by few, only to be pieced back together by the ones I love with a strength that nothing and no one can touch. I've learned to cut the leeches that once fed on my friendship for nothing but the wrong reasons. And who caused nothing but pain for others and finally (although I never saw it coming) for myself. All thats left are the people who matter. The people who will be there to share the epic years to come. And that is the way I've always wanted it.
After traveling the country numerous times and being away from home more than at home, I've figured out what it really is to be an artist at heart. And I am so very close to being able to define myself and my life as well as the friends and family I've come to share it with. It has taken and insane amount of patience, dedication, humbling, and compulsion. But every second of it has been worth it. And I'm not looking back. Not even for a glimpse.
