❖ MOON CYCLE 24 ❂ 06/21/10 - 06/27/10
Phase: New moon. The sky is once again a dark purplish haze of doom. Even the street lamps and the building lights can't blot out the utter black of night.

Weather: Suddenly it feels as if you're in the tropics: muggy, hot and humid. Thunderstorms come frequently and without warning, lasting about an hour or ( Read more... )

Not that I particularly plan on getting any of my characters killed, I very much dislike the proposed new death penalties. The one type of game I've always refused to play in are memory loss games, and even if it's for a short period of time, that would still be too much of a memory loss game to me.

That is a suggestion and nothing more. If you have alternative proposals for the punishment, please put it forward. The memory loss can be negated in the final draft.

Honestly, I have no problem with the way it works right now.

I adore the two sample app idea and definitely am digging the death punishment proposal. Death is serious and should be taken that way.

Nice ideas, mods!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention on the app sample thing.

I also disagree with requiring two apps. The game doesn't require playing in both prose and action styles. Someone could play 100% in prose, or 100% in action tags. Therefore, I see no reason to require someone to write something that they may or may not be comfortable with, when they have no intention of ever playing in that style.

Actually, I write my dreams about 50/50 prose and action. And the same with my logs. I'm not saying most people don't use both styles, but if someone wanted to, they could do everything in one style or the other. If they don't intend to write prose, they shouldn't have to write a prose sample. Or vice versa.

As for showing voice and thoughts/motivations, those are perfectly easy to do in either style. I usually do thoughts as part of the action tags, and dialogue is easy to do in prose.

I just don't see the need, and if it does become a requirement (or is a requirement on any other game I would look at), I probably wouldn't app, because I don't see the need for it, unless the game requires both styles.

I think the two samples is a good idea, in order to have a better feel of the grasp of the player on his character. The only thing that may be a problem is for those who prefer to play in prose. That may be a turn off for them to app if they absolutely HAVE to write in action tags. Maybe give the opportunity to write either one sample in action tag, one in prose or two in prose? IDK, just suggesting ^^;;;

This is a valid concern. However, we are hoping that the provision of an "IC Interview" prompt will make it easier for appers to write in their character's voice. This will come in the form of a series of Q&As, and the apper will write responses to the question ICly.

We do understand that many characters are difficult to write an "action tag" sample for from scratch, and we want to ease the process and reduce the amount of wavers we make as much as possible.

Hmm, in that case, it might be interesting if it's done in a form of an interview. It would be different than most app process I've seen so far.

...Oh, I see how it is.

Spain's just not allowed to play soccer, is that it? :|

But the new deaths idea sounds interesting and like there's a lot of room for character development. It'll make the characters respect death more too, which will be nice, I think. <3
