❖ AU Death, Injuries, and Disabilities: How They Work and the Consequences
We've had a few questions about this, so here's some guidelines regarding all death, injuries, and disabilities affected during the AU event. There's going to be a lot of deaths and injuries going on during the AU event (starts Wednesday!), which is perfectly fine! However, just so players can effectively plot this out and have a better idea of how it will be handled during and after the event, here are some few notes to keep in mind.
DURING THE EVENT:
- Death is "permanent." When a character dies during the AU, they are out for the remainder of the event. Don't worry, they will be brought back to life and good as new as soon as the event ends. But once a character dies, they are dead. So if you plan on having your character die, make sure you time it so it won't affect any other plots. Having them killed off during the last few days would probably be the best if you want to fully participate in the event. This affects both unaffected and affected characters. More information is detailed below in the "After the Event" section.
- Injuries heal normally. This is more of a reminder than anything else. Remember, if your character is affected, any special self-healing ability they may have had will be stripped. So they will have to use normal means for getting their injuries healed. This also means that lethal attacks will be lethal. Unaffected characters will be able to retain and use their abilities, however, so they are free to help those who have lost their powers due to the AU.
- Was blind but now can...see!? Just a quick note, this is only for affected characters. If your character has a disability of any kind before the event, it is possible for them to regain that trait again. So for instance, if your character had a broken arm right before the AU started, the arm will be magically healed and functional. If your character had some horrible disease, they will be cured to be normal. Of course, you also have the option to keep such disabilities while in the AU.
AFTER THE EVENT:
- Life after death. As mentioned above, any character who died during the event will be revived the very next day. Most likely they will find themselves lying in their bed and feeling quite sore. They will also retain all memories of the event. Who knows? Maybe that's what they were dreaming of before waking up...
The wound will have healed and there will be no trace of it left. The character will be revived as if nothing had happened and as if it was all a dream. There is also no death penalty associated with these deaths. Normally when a character dies in the game, they suffer some kind of penalty after reviving. This is not the case for any deaths that occur during the AU event, and there is no death count, either.
- Scar? What scar? Any injuries inflicted on a character during the AU will also have magically healed by the morning after the event. Missing a limb? It's back! There will be no trace of the injury or any physical alterations that were made during the event. This includes any markings that were made. Basically, it's as if nothing had happened, even though characters will remember it.
- It was just a temporary fix, sorry. Unfortunately, those who had any disabilities changed during the event will have them back again. That broken arm that was healed before? It's broken again. Cancer? Yeah, it's back.
That should be it! If you have any other questions about this or anything else involved with the AU, feel free to comment here or in the
Plotting Post. Don't forget to check to see if anyone new has commented! There's still plenty of time to plot.
