For those who were still awake, they may notice that suddenly the strange rain had stopped. Everything was silent, still, just like it was before the earthquake had hit.
But now there was a new rumbling, a soft tremor.
Now, it wasn't an earthquake. It was something else entirely.
A ghastly wail could be heard echoing through the night sky, and soft hissings echoed from dark corners of rooms and streets and buildings.
Shadows moved where there was no light, and a cold chill descended upon everyone, everywhere, inside and out.
The Noctaere, the creatures that once appeared in the Overlord's nightmare months ago, had returned.
Only this time, they were real. And just as frightening and perhaps deadly.
