It wasn't normal for people to be hanging around apartment complexes, and Sasuke knew a creeper when he saw one. At least he didn't trust this blond guy who'd been standing outside Javert's apartment for who knew how long.
Sasuke himself had been in the area and had left only for a short while, but upon coming back he'd seen Jace. Sasuke had stuck to the alleyways beside the apartments and his clothes showed it. They were slightly grimy as was his face. His newsboy cap was pulled down over his own eyes obscuring his features.
Seriously what was this guy doing here?
As the clock ticked on Sasuke decided waiting around wasn't going to get him anywhere and if he needed he could take care of himself. The familiar weight in his pocket was proof of that.
He took off from the alley and headed towards Jace.
Sometimes waiting for someone to show up for something could be a little dull. Case in point, waiting for Javert to decide he was headed out. Scratching the back of his neck, Jace tilted his head to the side. Of course, that was when he noticed something. A sort of tingling along his spine that said that someone was there. Lifting a brow, he listened a moment before shifting off out of sight of the alley.
Then he glanced off to the side to see what would come out of it. See if it was anyone interesting. What could he say? He was curious.
Besides, he could use some entertainment while he waited.
Sasuke's hand reached into his pocket. His fingers wrapped around the handle of his switchblade and he pulled it out but he didn't release the blade just yet.
He crept up till he was within a few feet of Jace before verbalizing his existence.
"Pondering the man reasons why a boy would be wandering through an alley just to talk to me. I'm sure they're quite good though so perhaps you could share them. And yourself?"
Jace's tone of voice was like he was talking about the weather. He even looked just as calm as ever. Though, he did have a smirk on his lips as he looked down at the dark haired kid.
It was so cute when people thought they could take him.
Sasuke may have been 12, but he'd been living on the streets since he was 6. At the very least Sasuke thought he'd leave the good looking blond with a scar or two.
"Wondering why someone like you has been standing outside someone's apartments for as long as you have."
His own voice was cool and slightly icy. It held a slightly arrogant tone as well.
"The poor wall was so lonely. I just had to keep it company."
He brought his hand up to check out his nails. Of course they were just fine but arrogance was his specialty. He'd cultivated this smug act into perfection.
Pissing people off was something Jace was top dollar at.
"Having a lovely conversation with you. Has anyone told you that your people skills are impressive?"
Jace didn't bother to look at him while he said that. The kid had decided not to like him and he was perfectly alright with that. He wasn't trying to get anyone to like him here anyway.
"You let me this close didn't you?" Sasuke smirked. "That proves you're not as good as you thought."
Sure Sasuke didn't owe Javert anything. He sure as hell hadn't found the man who'd killed his family, and Sasuke really wasn't doing this to keep Javert safe either. Still the older man was probably his best bet. A kid could only get into so many places after all.
"Really? I'm perfectly safe and the most dangerous thing about you is that you talk really big for your size."
Jace cocked his head to the side but still looked as if he had nothing in the world to fear. It wasn't like a little knife was going to take him down. Besides, if the kid made a move then he'd just have to take him out. As in knock him out. He wasn't going to kill some kid who thought he could take him.
Sasuke's eyes narrowed again, but he didn't say another word as he flicked the switch blade open and went for Jace.
He was surprisingly fast for a kid. He jumped a bit to bring his arm closer to Jace's pretty face and swung his arm meaning to slice open Jace's cheek.
Kids these days. With a sigh, Jace moved faster than his size would suggest he could and ducked out of the way. With a quick move, he went to punch the kid in the stomach.
He could appreciate points for effort. Really he could.

He didn't really speak like a twelve year-old and the look in his eyes was anything but naive.

Glancing across the street again, he noted that his target still wasn't out. How lovely for him.

"Tch." Sasuke made an annoyed noise and narrowed his eyes at Jace. "Just because your older than me don't think you're better."
Well wasn't this a surprise the kid had some spunk.

"I don't think I'm better, shorty. I know I'm better. Let's get the phrasing right."
