Rapunzel wandered onto the the edges of the residential district as she was exploring the area outside her home near Lake Meridian and... was having some trouble with her hair. Trying to take in the sight of so many buildings, trying to stare at all that was bustling around her, she'd let her hair trail behind her. In a way that she'd never had any problems before, all seventy feet of her blonde hair was getting caught on things, around corners, stepped on, pulling her back when she was trying to move forwards. The worst such occurrence was the running by of a mob of people. Rapunzel squeaked, trying to move out of their way as they ran by her, but with all the catching and stepping-on that her hair received, it wasn't such an easy task.

She had noticed, however, that they'd been chasing something. She gathered her hair in her arms as best as she could and followed them carefully. Rapunzel had neither seen anything like Kirby nor read about anything like him; but she knew, too, that her life in a tower meant there was a lot she hadn't seen, and that her few books hadn't told her everything. When she rounded a corner she simply saw the pink creature's running towards her, trying to hide while a group of people chased him down-- and she couldn't let that happen.

"Hey!" she called, gesturing for Kirby to come to her as the mob approached, "let him alone!"

Kirby's eyes widened when he heard a human tell the mob to 'leave him alone'. With so many people running after him shouting nasty stuff - some things that Kirby never even heard before in his life - it was overly nice to hear someone say something nice.

He ran to the non-harmful human, hiding behind her quickly, staring at the approaching mob. Sure, he was a hero, but being chased by a group of enraged humans wasn't exactly a situation he was used to.

When they approached the long haired human, the one in the front looked at her, eyes narrow.

"Step out of the way! We can't let this foul beast roam around our town! Who knows what kind of disaster might fall upon us if we allow such a thing!"

Rapunzel held out an arm protectively, keeping herself between Kirby and the mob. "'Foul beast'? Look at him!" she protested. "He looks like nothing of the sort." She glanced behind her. In truth, Kirby was absolutely adorable; if they weren't in such a situation, she'd probably be hugging him.

"He's probably just afraid!" she continued, using the best lecturing voice she could muster. "What harm has he done you, anyway?"

Another man, with mustache, stepped forward as well, eyes narrowing as he eyed the small pink ball.

"Miss, don't you know how monsters and devils take on these... lovely features just to trick humans to approach them and so then can do their evil deeds?" He shifted his gaze from Kirby to the long-haired girl. "This harmless demeanor is nothing but mask to disguise his real intentions! Now step aside so we can take care of this thing!"

The man grabbed Rapunzel by the arm, with the clear intention of pushing her out of the way so then he could get to Kirby.

Out of impulse, seeing someone about to do harm upon another being, Kirby gathered the little bravery left in him and moved from behind Rapunzel, opening his mouth wide. He inhaled and, in a split second, the mustached man was nowhere to be seen. And just as fast, Kirby spat him out, visibly unharmed, except for the look of shock in his face.

All the other people in the mob stared at the small pink ball, the confusion and fear clear on their faces as they saw that the so-called 'beast' now had a mustache incredibly similar to the man's on his own face.

Not really sure how to counter that kind of attack, the group started giving steps back, until they quickly dispersed.

"Ah-- hey!"

Rapunzel jerked backwards when the man grabbed her arm, intending to pull herself free and-- well, she didn't know what, but she would have done something. But Kirby acted first, leaving Rapunzel staring a little wide-eyed at him.

When the crowd dispersed Rapunzel finally blinked, playing with a few strands of her hair. "I'm really sorry they were chasing you," she said sincerely. Maybe Mother was right about some people, at least, if not all. "And thank you for helping me, too. Are you all right? What was that you did?"

...She had to admit he looked a little comical with that moustache.

For a moment, Kirby was too busy playing with the mustache on his face. Why was that everytime he 'ate' any human, he would get strange stuff on him? That didn't happen back in Dream Land.

When he finally left his newly-acquired facial hair alone, he turned to the long-haired human with a smile.

"Ah, Kirby OK. Kirby use special ability. Copy enemy power," he tugged on the mustache briefly. "Human no power, get funny hair on face." Kirby pouted a little. He didn't like that much but he would have to wait for that to wear off.

"Human no chase Kirby before. Strange..."

That was really confusing. Kirby was used to pretty much all humans patting him on the head and giving him food and calling him 'cute'. He was never chased around and called names before.

"I can't imagine why they'd chase you," Rapunzel told Kirby, holding a hand out for him. "Look at you! I bet you've never wanted to hurt people, have you? You had the chance, and you didn't hurt that man."

She tilted her head, thinking about what he'd said. "There's been a lot of strange things here, really. Oh! I'm Rapunzel, by the way. You're-- Kirby?"

The pink ball shook his head.

"Kirby no like violence. Fight only last choice," he said, a small hint of pride on his voice. Him, and all the inhabitants of Dream Land, took a lot of pride on their peaceful way of living and dealing with other creatures.

"Ah, Rapunzel!" He repeated, with a smile. "Yes, Kirby!" He pointed to himself. Then, something caught his attention, now that he wasn't running away from people.

"Oh... Hair long," he didn't remember ever seeing any human with such long hair. Headmistress Serenity had a fairly long one, but not that much.

"Well, it's very nice to meet you, Kirby!" Rapunzel said, a wide smile spreading across her face. Kirby was giving off the impression of a complete, utter sweetheart, and Rapunzel already had a soft spot for him.

At his mention of her hair, she turned, glancing at the blonde spools of hair she'd dropped at her feet when she'd rushed to stand in front of Kirby. "Oh! Yes, well, I've never cut it. My hair... is very important to me, you might say."

With the curiosity of a child, Kirby stepped closer to her hair and got a handful of it with his hand.

"Ah, soft!" He exclaimed, rubbing the strand of hair against his face, letting out a sound of satisfaction. He didn't remember Adelaine's or Ribbon's hair being like that.

"Why Rapunzel hair special?" He asked, out of curiosity, still holding on to her hair.

Rapunzel dropped to be more at eye level with Kirby, folding her arms over her knees. Even if she weren't growing generally less suspicious of the human race as a whole now that she'd been out in the world and meeting people, she couldn't see any reason to distrust Kirby. "I'm not sure why it is like it is," she admitted, "but when I sing a special song, my hair will glow, and it can heal people. If I ever cut it, it'd turn brown and lose its power. I have to protect a gift like that, so I let it grow and never cut it."

Kirby's eyes widened. He never heard of such power before - and, boy, did he knew a lot of powers!

"Oh, heal people? Ah, Rapunzel power real special!" He said, a strand of her hair now wrapped around his body. He was certainly enjoying himself.

And then his belly started to growl. He had left home to get something to eat, but then that whole mob thing got him distracted.

Rapunzel blinked, then laughed. "Oh, are you hungry?" she asked. "Well. If you like, I can get you some food, and you can tell me a little bit more about your power. Yours is pretty special, too, huh?"

Why, Kirby is always hungry, but Rapunzel doesn't need to know that. Not yet that is.

He nodded at her with a smile.

"Kirby power..."He pondered for a moment, Even he himself wasn't sure of how his power worked, but he would try to explain the best way he could.

"Hm... Kirby eat enemy and get power. Spit fire, ice, create bomb." He began to list what he could do. Unfortunately, that wasn't Dream Land so his powers were a little bit limited.
