Eridan couldn't possibly glare any more than he already was. The fact that Sollux would even suggest such a thing. Was he an idiot? He had to be. To sit there and say he wouldn't be surprised if he killed her. Eridan would NEVER kill her, never in all his sweeps would he ever lay a hand on Feferi--EVER.
He was sure of it.
Right?
His doubting thoughts mixing with the anger that was already there, fueling it into a catastrophic rage that was blinding--probably a feeling that was similar to what he felt when he wielded that wand that day he had yet to experience. Digging his heels into the grass as he closed the distance between them, his fist drew back, teeth bared and brows furrowed. He didn't care if he wasn't suppose to fight anyone but Karkat, didn't care if this would piss off Karkat--Sollux had crossed a line!
Within the next moment, his fist crashed into the face of the once psionic, surely with enough force to knock the blind troll back. Maybe even sprawling onto the ground if nothing was present for the gemini to catch himself on.
Sollux didn't have time to react to Eridan's fist crashing into his face. He never saw it coming. He couldn't. He had heard him stepping closer but he didn't know what to think about it.
"Fuck!"
Needless to say the punch was enough to throw him off balance, in an attempt to keep himself from falling though he reached out to grab the closest thing to him-- Eridan's scarf. He grabbed tight and pulled, but even that was not enough to stop his descent to the ground. The punch had too much momentum.
Sollux's face had scrunched up in a mixture of pain and anger, if he was going down then so help him god Eridan was going down with him. The sea troll may be his kaykay's kismesis, but Sollux wasn't going to just allow himself to get beat up. It was Eridan who started this after all.
Eridan had smirked at the exclamation from the blind gemini, pretty pleased with his work, when a frantic hand grasped his scraf. Initially, he was disgusted at the idea of Sollux touching his scarf! But that was soon forgotten when he felt the fabric tighten from the pull, turning the once scarf into a blue striped noose--the fabric tightening around his throat and causing him to gag. He tried to remain standing, but it was hard when the weight of a troll was pulling at his neck and choking him at the same time.
So, naturally, Eridan meets with the ground--lucky not falling on Sollux, but he was close enough. First thing he did after recovering from the fall was attempt to loosen the scarf that was currently choking him, because hey, he liked to breath after all. He wasn't too concerned with Sollux right now, just worried about the tightness of that scarf.
Despite the pain from making contact with the ground Sollux wasn't done yet. He wouldn't even call grabbing Eridan's scarf a retaliation really. It was just good luck on his part that he happened to blindly grab hold of it and pull him down too.
He was still holding on to the scarf and pulling the scarf- using it in fact to swing himself over the Aquarius to better send him a punch right back. It was a useful guide for the blind troll, for the scarf was wrapped around Eridan's neck and above that would be his ugly ass face. Where exactly his punch would hit he wouldn't know, but it was going to be his face and that was good enough for him.
"Can you just leave me the fuck alone for once?!"
His punch connected square between Eridan's eyes. Sollux wasn't the strongest physically sure, but a punch to the face would hurt regardless. It was enough to snap those stupid glasses of his anyways and knock them off of his face.
Eridan hadn't be able to react fast enough, before he knew what was happening, Sollux was on top of him and soon a fist was meeting his snout in a very unpleasant way--but that wasn't the worst of it, that snap definitely meant his glasses just bit the fucking dust and now Eridan was about as blind as the Gemini. He hisses in pain, hands cupping his poor face at the assaulted spot. He was about to try and retaliate, when he heard a familiar voice.
Shit...
He knew Karkat was going to take this the wrong way! And with how he was trying to pull Sollux off him and that tone of voice, yeah... He definitely thought this was something it wasn't--that last bit confirming it. He was at a lost for words at the moment, cuz well fuck, what could he say at a moment like this?
Sollux let himself get pulled back by Karkat and pull himself up off of the Aquarius. He had no intentions of continuing this fight any longer. He hadn't wanted to fight in the first place. That didn't make him any less upset at this situation though. Fuck he had just got done telling Karkat he didn't care about him and Eridan, he didn't need this misunderstanding. Just he wasn't going to take a punch laying down.
"I don't hate him like that! I wouldn't be telling him to leave me alone if I did. He's the asswipe who punched me first!"
That aimed kick? Yeah it definitely connected, causing the sea troll to crumple a bit, holding the assaulted side, teeth gritting from the pain of it. He looked to Karkat--or the blur he figured that was Karkat, his brows furrowed. It had slightly knocked the breath out of him, so after regaining it a few moments later, he spoke.
"Look, he really fuckin' pissed me off okay--but it wasn't ewen like that, okay? It was purely platonic! I'm well aware a who my fuckin' kismesis is, Kar! This wasn't some fuckin' adwance in anyway, so stop actin' like I just fuckin' cheated on you--cuz I fuckin' didn't!"
Eridan stares at Karkat, he was wordless. He honestly didn't think what he had done was something so wrong. He knew very well that a Kismesis was suppose to be who he gave his hate to, but to not be allowed to fight anyone but Karkat, yeah it was fair to say that Eridan was ignorant to the entire extent of kismesisitude. And for that, he was feeling pretty shitty. He didn't want to cause problems with Karkat, or their relationship. Him hitting Sollux wasn't meant to be anything more than what it was, a simple hit. But the fact he had actually crossed a line he wasn't aware of... Yeah he needed to fix this.
"I-I-I." He was stammering like an idiot, not really the best for his side of the argument. So here was the next attempt.
"L-Look Kar, I didn't mean to--I--okay look I meant to hit him, I won't ewen lie. But my intentions weren't anythin' like that--no, I won't make excuses... Look, you're my kismesis and I--" God how was he going to fix this? How was he going to show he was sorry? Did you apologize to your kismesis? Maybe over things like this? It was all a misunderstanding!
"Okay, I shouldn't hawe fuckin' hit him, alright? I should hawe had better control... I'm--I... I'm sorry, really I fuckin' am. I'll keep my fuckin' hands to myself, I won't fuckin' lay them on anyone else, but you alright? I just..." He was absolutely sincere, and as he continued to stammer his explanation, he was getting more and more worried. What if Karkat thought this was a suitable offense to leave him over? What if he really fucked things up with such a simple punch?
What if he was going to be left all alone again? It wasn't like he could exactly talk to Kanaya anymore--not after the awkward shit that was going on between her and him... And Tavros was gone, even if he would only use him to yell at... God he did not want this to ruin things between him and Kar.
"Look, I promise Kar, I won't fuckin' let this happen again... I'm sorry." Yeah, that's right, he was swallowing his whale of a pride. If it meant fixing this situation he'd do that and more. He didn't want to lose this, he didn't want to lose Kar. He'd do whatever it took to redeem himself, just god how could he have been so stupid.
Sollux had kept out of it for the most part, only really stepping back from the two in case they were to fight or something. That's what kismesis do right? He'd rather not be in the way of any of that. It wasn't until Karkat actually spoke to him again that he really tuned back in.
"He-"
Wait a minute, why was Eridan following him? The douchebag never answered his question on that at all! He shrugged.
Eridan looked between the two blurs. He didn't understand why that was even a thing, why they even really cared as to why he was following Sollux, that was HIS business, not theirs! Though, he figured if Karkat wanted to know, it would probably be for the best that he answered it, even if the question wasn't exactly aimed towards him.
"I wanted to see if he'd lead me back to your hiwe, is all..." Now that he thought about it though, that seemed pretty dumb. Sollux was blind, he was following a blind person. Welp, Eridan never said he was the best at decision making.
Eridan glared at being called a dumbass, he wasn't one! Not entirely anyways, he just thought it was a good idea at the time--but now it did seem pretty dumb. Retarded really. But whatever. When he feels Karkat grab his shirt and pull him up, he goes with it, rising to his feet.
"Like it'd make a fuckin' lick a difference, Kar. The stupid seahorse's ass broke my fuckin' glasses! So not like I could ewen see where to go, or how to get there." He was pouting, because not only was this whole thing fruitless, his glasses were broken, he got punched in the face and more importantly he had almost lost Kar. Today fuckin' sucked for the sea prince.
He was sure of it.
