Kanaya was out wandering around, trying to avoid her hive because her hivemates were both home, when she noticed a human standing near the lake. She recognized anxiety and nervousness in the twitchy set of his shoulders, so she quietly approached him.
"If you want to get around the lake, there's a path not far from here I can show you."
He turned to the voice talking to him and... Instantly his eyes went wide. Was that a demon?! Well, it had horns and strange colored skin. It looked like one.
But she certainly didn't act like one, offering help and all... And he couldn't feel any energy from her that could indicate that she was some kind of supernatural being - like what happened when he saw the unicorn.
"Anh, I'm not really trying to to get around the lake you see..." He started to explain. "Is just that, I'm really afraid of water and I thought that looking at this place would help me a little. But it seems like it's only making things worst," he sighed. He must have sounded pathetic.
Kanaya smiled at the strange human reassuringly, not remembering that her fangs were sometimes frightening.
"I'm sorry to hear that. I don't like the water very much myself." Growing up in a desert will do that to you. It wasn't that she was afraid of the water, per se, just that she had no desire to go splash around in it.
"I guess this isn't such a rare kind of phobia but still..." Eying the lake again. "It's kind of embarrassing. I mean, considering my life back home I should be so scared of it."
Really. For someone that was nailed to a cross, swimming certainly shouldn't be so terrifying.
The boy, now staying with Mister Jigen, decided to go out for a walk. He wandered out past a large pool of water, bigger than he had ever seen in a glass, or in a bathtub. It seemed to go on forever. He stood at some distance away from the adult with long, brown hair, and feeling bad for the other one, stated, rather evenly and with a little melancholy,
"I don't blame you, Mister. I'm scared of drowning, too."
It took Jesus a second or two to register what the boy told him, as he was lost in his own thoughts. But he soon processed what was said to him and looked at the boy, slightly confused. Was it really so obvious that he was there because of his fear of water?
"I guss it's OK for a kid to be afraid of such a thing but in my case... I feel like I really shouldn't be afraid."
For shame... He was a martyr and savior. How was he afraid of something so simple?
"Well, all things considered, I guess I should be stronger alright," he said, eying the lake again for a moment. He was a role model to be followed, wasn't he? What kind of lame model he was that water, of all things, scared him?
"But I guess that when you are afraid of something, it's hard to be strong against it..."

"What the hell are you doing?" an irritable Gokudera asked, smoking his third cigarette with an air of irritation.
Sorry, Jesus, but not only has Gokudera just woken up from a week-long sleep coma, apparently on the wrong side of the bed too - you're totally trespassing on what he considers his territory. He's doing very important research here, and for all he knows, you're just staring intently at the water in order to beat him to the punch. You will not be the first person to find proof of Somarium's loch ness monster. Oh, no, not over Gokudera Hayato's body.
LOLOL No need to be sorry XDmartyrofbreadApril 3 2011, 17:51:18 UTC
Jesus was startled for a brief moment at the voice behind him. So startled, the worlds failed him as he snapped his head back and looked at the other man.
"Ah, hm... What I'm doing?" For a brief moment he even forgot what he was doing, but then he finally remembered. "I'm not doing anything. I was just, hm, looking at the lake, trying to get over my fear of water! I swear!" Jesus certainly didn't know what was wrong with him looking at the lake for that other guy to look so angry.
Taiwan was out on her way to buy some ingredients to make a pie for her friend. She was still new to Somarium and had a habit of getting lost even with her dreamberry. During her trip, she noticed a guy near the lake.
He turned to look at her and, realizing that he probably looked a little bit too much on the sad side, he decided to put on a better face.
"Ah, I'm OK, yes," he smiled, hands behind his back. "I was just thinking about how to overcome my fear of water you see..." He looked at the lake again. "I thought that coming here would help, but looks like it just made me kind of melancholic!" He laughed lightly, trying to disguise his worry a little more.
Taiwan stared for a moment. This person looked a lot like...a certain religious figure. However, that was just her imagination, there was no way that could ever happen! Besides, she thought to herself, it was rude to stare!
"If you're thinking of learning how to overcome your fear, you shouldn't do it so drastically! You should take one small step at a time!" She said to him.
There was nothing quite like a brisk morning swim in cool waters, stripped down to his sarashi and fundoshi, to help him shed sleepiness by jarring him into focus; it was a pleasantly invigorating, purifying experience - one that also never failed to shift his attentions from the more undesired bodily reactions he encountered on occasion. But after roughly ten, fifteen minutes, he had worked up an appetite and was ready to make for the shore, his arcing arms slicing through the water in alternation.
Although the man standing uneasily at the lake's edge did not escape his notice, Goemon offered no acknowledgment. Instead, he made a beeline - purposefully albeit with a calm, unhurried grace - towards the clothes he had left in neat pile upon a nearby boulder, lifting a towel to briskly dry his hair and face.
A little bit entranced by his own thoughts, it took Jesus a while to actually realize someone was swimming in the lake. He just noticed it when he saw the water ripple a little, causing him to look up slightly.
He kind of envied that guy for being able to do something like that. The same way he envied Buddha. It's not like he wanted to be an olympic swimmer or something. He just wanted to get over that silly fear, for his own sake.
And... That was odd. There was something familiar about this guy but Jesus really couldn't put his finger on what exactly... Also, wasn't it a little bit cold to be swimming in a lake? Gee... that guy was clearly hardcore!
Alas, not so hardcore that he was immune to some shrinkage, but he was a human being, after all. While he felt the man's thoughtful gaze on his back, again, although he carried on with a mellow nonchalance for it was not unusual to find himself the subject of others' attentions; and so, he shook out and threw on his slate-blue hakamashita - that fell to mid-thigh - loosely over his shoulders. A kimono not unlike that in Zenigata's crude drawing revealed a few weeks prior...
With his back still turned, Goemon then unraveled his fundoshi without the slightest hint of shame (for there were no women in his midst, as far as he was aware) bunched it in his hands, and wrung it sharply, water splattering over the dirt. He draped the five feet of cloth over the rock and left it to dry in the sun while he tugged on his hakama; his expression was dimly contemplative as his nimble, practiced fingers made short work of complex knots.

Still trying to remember why in God's name there was something familiar about that man, looking at the lake's general direction, until he looked at him again.
When he saw that he was now wearing that blue kimono-like-thing-he-really-couldn't-remember-the-name, Jesus scratched his head.
I've seen this somewhere...
Then, he remembered about all those countless stores for traditional clothes he saw while he was in Japan. The ones where he wanted to buy it all, but Buddha wouldn't let him, lecturing him about the importance of saving money...
Wait... Traditional Japanese clothing?
He quickly pulled his Dreamberry from out of his backpocket and scanned through some files and folders until he found Zenigata's terrible drawing. Jesus moved his eyes from the small gadget's screen to the man not too far from him and, despite the fact that the description he had was quite lacking, there was no mistaking it.
AH! Is that awesome samurai guy!He froze for a moment. He couldn't believe it. A real samurai! Not just some guy in a costume

Jesus would rather much prefer to forget that incident at the public pool...
"Say... Do you have any idea of how I should start?" He scratched the back of his neck, still smiling politely.
