Twenty minutes actually turned into more like twenty-five. On a good day, he might have been able to rush his grooming regimen. But Magnus wasn't going to be rushed today. He barely had the energy to go through the motions, but he wasn't leaving the house looking like he did before, when the broadcast was made.
And to think, all of Somarium saw him like that.
It must be a testament to his mood that this fact didn't entirely bother him. Later, he would probably hate the reminder.
Sparkling beneath the sunshine, a newly glittered Magnus strode across the lawn between the houses. How long had it been since he'd stopped by? He hadn't seen C.C. in a while. He wasn't a big fan of her housemate. But at least there wasn't far to walk. That was really the deciding factor, minimal effort on top of the offer of wine and company that hopefully wouldn't be as annoying as his housemates.
He needed to get away from them before he burned the house down.
Reaching the rear entrance to the mansion, Magnus waved his wrist, bypassing the doorknob and letting himself in. Another lazy gesture of his hand and the door closed behind him. He vaguely took in the quiet interior of the larger house, painted fingernails brushing up against the edge of a table, the frame of a doorway, and finally the wall leading into the kitchen, pausing there.
"Knock, knock."
