At the stroke of midnight, a strange wind blew from the direction of the floating mountain. The air seeped through doors, windows, cracks-and everyone who took even a breath would suddenly find themselves lulling into a peaceful sleep. No matter what they were doing, even if they were cooking or just walking, something seemed to guide their bodies gently down.
When the dream began, that sense of calm continued to fill the minds of everyone "watching". In fact, dreamers may feel as if they were floating.
First, the floating mountain looms before them. However, it seems different. There's not as many forests, and what normally looked like smaller mountain peaks appear as spires, like towers. These strange spire formations grow closer upon approaching, and the mountain seems to shimmer a little. There is a vague image, but it is too unclear and hazy to make out anything distinctive.
The vision then shifts. Suddenly there is a set of elaborately decorated doors which open to reveal a dark, long hallway. There's not much to see, but one could feel the cool air that seeps from within the interior. As the vision fades, the sound of what some may connect with machinery could be heard in the distance. Gears turning, liquids pumping, the beeps of some computer machine.
These sounds are made clear once the third vision appears, a vision that may startle many. In the center of a large, crystallized room, was the woman rumored and referred to as the "Overlord". Those who had the chance to see her always saw her as an ephemeral, translucent being. Some had called her a ghost, others some spirit. But here, the Overlord, the mysterious woman who had not been heard or seen since last Spring, was there. She was lying in what almost looked like an open, crystal coffin, her expression peaceful. What's more, there were strange cables attached to various points of her body that disappeared far into the darkness. But most importantly, there was another sound. A sound that no one would have thought to hear from this strange woman.
A heartbeat.
What's more, if one were to pay attention, they may notice that the body lying there was not translucent at all, but solid.
The vision then faded away and the dream ended. The dull hum of a large, hidden machine drowned everything out before it all blackened. Just before waking, everyone heard a clear voice say the following words:
"I am here. I am waiting. Find me...before it is too late."
There was a brief lull before the sound of something like an explosion was heard all throughout Somarium, and the ground began to shake. It was not quite like an earthquake. It was more like a stampede.
The cause of this was the black ice that had once covered Somarium. It was moving, like a sheet being dragged across the ground. In its wake it left behind ruined foliage. Some patches were even left behind, some objects still encased. But the bulk of it moved toward one direction: the floating mountain. Should anyone look outside or be around the area, they would witness an incredible sight:
As it approached the lake, the black ice suddenly leaped upward, rising like a giant black spike to smash against the bottom of the floating mountain. Like it did before, it soon spread all around the floating land mass. However, it did not cover all of it. Instead, it focused most of its efforts in trying to encompass the actual mountain part, the part that was closest to the barrier. Once it had mostly engulfed the actual mountain, slowly the black ice began to move and drag the floating mountain out of the barrier and into the desert toward the sink hole. The strange statue that had stood dormant suddenly began to move. The elongated "knives" on its "arms" began to spin, and it began to rise. By the time the black ice had positioned the floating mountain above the sink hole, the statue was now hovering right above it all. Once in lace, a strange, dark gooey substance emerged from the spinning knives, as if to help the black ice bring in its prize.
This process took perhaps only ten minutes, and in the end the floating mountain could now be seen and found outside of the barrier in the desert just above the sink hole. It was rooted in place by both the strange black substance from the hovering statue above, and the black ice below.
And then there was silence.
