A Dark Dream

Tonight the people of Somarium share a dream. It is a vague dream, remembered only in flashes, but the occurrences are enough to frighten even the most jaded of adults out of a deep sleep, hearts pounding and sweat dripping off their brows. Those that could recall a few details would remember the following:

It's hard to say. We'll need to get people out there to be sure but right now, it's too dangerous, Vermillion. We'll wait for the Inspector's word.

Obviously. It'll probably turn back to normal eventually like usual, but what's worrying me is that the ice is black... We're gonna have to watch out to see if something even worse shows up on top of this too.

Apparently, [Javert agrees in a dry, distracted murmur. His thoughts are already speeding ten miles a minute.

No, Javert is no stranger to increasingly strange happenings within the city of Somarium. The Inspector has been one of the few people keeping track of each 'major' upheaval for well over a year, now, mentally marking dates on the calendar. He has got it down to nearly an art, the timing of each near-disaster.

The strangest thing, however, has been the last two months. A full moon in the sky for damn near thirty days is not commonplace, even in a strange and mysterious (under)world.

The Inspector, then, is very willing to believe that something large and annoyingly unforgiving is on the horizon. He had better catch up with his sleep while he could.]

Sanada! How are your mutts faring?

Inspector. [Akihiko greets him over the Dreamberry with a short but respectful nod.] They're nervous.

Keibi won't leave my side - but the others in the K9 Unit have contacted me, they said their dogs get nervous and start to whine when someone goes near a door or window. This weather looks like it's really getting to them.

[As Akihiko must have expected, the Inspector, true to form, rattles off an abrupt and matter-of-fact command. He stares at the young officer with an intensity that insinuates his dire suspicions.]

You will have them ready to work whenever the... event occurs. At any moment. Morning, noon, night. Am I clear?

We will operate at emergency code orange.

Understood. [He nods again, this time meeting Javert's gaze as he does so.] I'll contact my unit and keep them informed - we won't let you down, Sir.
