The first thing he noticed was that he had fallen asleep at some point, something he couldn't recall doing when last he recalled, he had been on his feet and calling out to Ezio Auditore as his boot had pressed Mario Auditore into the street of Monteriggioni, the Apple in his hand - and a quick grab to his side confirmed that at least he had that with him and he held it close - Lucrezia by his side, pressed against him as he had lofted the pistol. His men had been ready and Ezio's life in tatters; his villa gone, resources depleted, Cesare's men spilling through the streets, his woman - the Sforza loudmouth - seized and held, his Piece of Eden in the hands of its rightful masters. It had all been according to plan.
But now, now he awoke in a field full of what he assumed was snow until he realised it was closer to sugar and he rose to his feet, hurriedly wiping himself off as he pocketed the Apple in a pouch and then examined the other object that lay next to where he had just picked himself up from. A curious thing, some shinier surface, strange letter keys next to it and then, as he pressed and prodded, turning it this way and that until a red light began to blink.
"In the name of God, what is this?" He mutted to himself as he stared for a few more minutes before trying to take in his surroundings. Was he hallucinating? Had he been injured? He felt fine and could recall no such instance that would change his perceptions of things and there were much more pressing matters to address.
Namely the Auditore dog, should he be here.
"I know you're here Assassin!" He bellowed, both to the device in his hand and to anyone who might happen to be nearby. "Lurking around somewhere, ready to spring out. Do you have your little band of Assassins with you Auditore? Come out. Face me like a man unless you're as much of a cane codardo as your uncle!"
Satisfied that he had caught the man's attention should he be here, Cesare kept a tight grip of the strange device, other hand on the hilt of his sword and began to stride through unfamiliar streets, past strange buildings that looked utterly foreign to anything he had ever seen before in Italy. If it looked as though he were studying dark spots and the rooftops carefully every so often then that was because he was; he knew how Assassins operated by now.
