Who: Toothless and Everyone Ever. Where: Wherever you wanna come across him. Style: First, Third, I'll match whatever you wanna reply with. (: Status: Open~
[ Izaya was doing some errands in the shopping district. it hadn't been long since he'd awoken from his sleep coma and since then, Namie had disappeared so he'd be doing all the shopping on his own. he noticed that little dragon he had seen with Shizuo a few weeks ago anxiously treading the street. he called out from where he stood on the sidewalk. ]
Hey, it's you. Glad to see you're not tailing that guy anymore.
[ observant enough and you might be able to see the remnants of permanent marker fading on his face. someone had thought it would be fun to play a prank while he was out cold. ]
[Toothless reeled when he heard the familiar voice. He may not have been fond of Izaya, but a familiar face was better than an unfamiliar face, especially when attempting to ask favors of a human. He skidded to a halt and backpedaled, keeping a small distance between himself and the information gatherer, extending his neck in a curious fashion and crooning. Hey, I lost my Viking, would you know where he might be?]
[Unfortunately for Toothless, he had no idea Izaya had been out for a while, and thus wouldn't know anymore than he did, even if he could understand the dragon's gurgling.]
[Toothless bobs his head emphatically in response. Yes, yes he was looking for something. Someone, specifically-- even if you couldn't understand him, you were on the right track, Izaya. The dragon took a small step forward, crooning again.]
[If only Toothless were more proficient at drawing in the sand. The mention of the Dreamberry causes the dragon to halt, stilling and glancing behind him. He nudged his nose under the saddle on his shoulders, withdrawing his Dreamberry and prodding at it with a claw to little avail. With a soft whine, he looked from it to Izaya.]
[He could use the Dreamberry, slightly, but not well. He had learned enough to scroll through the names, but he had to do it very carefully to where he could touch the screen to make it respond without putting too much weight on it to break it. He didn't have the patience to be that precise right now. Instead, he whined and nudged it toward Izaya.]
[...Not that he knew how to tell Izaya who to call.]
[ he takes it and scrolls through the names idly. ]
I can't read your mind, unfortunately. The only person I know who knows you-- [ a grimace ] not calling him. How am I supposed to know what you're asking me?
[Smartly, Toothless made a sound somewhat resembling a hiccup. Hiccup, knife-wielder, I want you to call Hiccup.]
[Unfortunately, Toothless had no idea that even if he did understand, Izaya wouldn't be able to call the boy. He stepped a little closer and huffed softly, not entirely irritated but making a point of expressing his dislike for the constant dislike he and Shizuo exhibited for one another. Silly human feuds, they tended to be such tireless, trivial things.]
I didn't know dragons hiccuped-- [ he stopped, wondering if that was supposed to mean something to him. he skimmed through the names and didn't come up with anything. ]
If it's someone who should be around who isn't, they may have disappeared from Somarium entirely. It happens pretty often actually. I had an acquaintance leave recently myself.
[ as for Shizuo, it really was a silly human feud over trivial things but nevertheless, they hated each other. ]
[It positively elated Toothless that Izaya seemed to have gotten the message, but when he scrolled through the names and came back with mention that people disappeared entirely, the creature drooped. He nudged carefully at Izaya's arm, as though to urge him to look once more. Hiccup couldn't have left-- he wouldn't have left without him, would he?]
[Maybe some day Toothless will understand the nature of you two's feuding-- and maybe when he does he'll just sit back and play referee to his heart's content. Thor knew he didn't want to let the two of them kill each other.]
[ he gave Toothless a glance and looked to the Dreamberry again. he scrolled through the alphabetized list and passed by where Namie's name should have been. people disappeared. a lot. nothing he saw made any connection with a hiccuping noise. ]
Sorry, I don't know who you're looking for. Maybe if you're lucky, they're looking for you, too. Then again, if you keep searching for each other, you may keep passing each other by.
[Circling around behind him to watch him scroll the names, Toothless noticed the absence of Hiccup's in amongst them. How he had figured out how to read was a mystery on it's own-- perhaps Hiccup had taught him how to recognize important names in the Dreamberry before he had left. And the dragon didn't see the one name in the list that was most important. He sagged slightly behind the Japanese man.]
[If searching meant he would pass Hiccup by, then he would wait here. It seemed that it was the best course of action anyway, since if his name wasn't on the list he wasn't there anymore. If he waited here, where he had first arrived, maybe he would be the first to know when Hiccup returned.]
[Trilling, Toothless moved to reclaim his Dreamberry, nudging his nose gently against Izaya's shoulder in thanks. He would take this assistance as a thank you for helping the knife-wielding man escape from Shizuo, even if he still didn't understand the encounter.]
[ he returned the Dreamberry to the pouch, and patted the dragon's head like one might pat a dog. he had gotten the impression that whatever Toothless was looking for, he couldn't find it.
it wasn't normally his policy to help someone when there was nothing in it for him but he did appreciate the distraction he had given Shizuo on their first meeting and he liked to be on equal footing with everyone. owing others favors was generally bad-- not that he would necessarily follow through with the things he owed others anyway.
still, he had recently lost Shinra and Namie, the only people he truly liked on a personal level rather than the impersonal generalization of liking humans. it struck him that the dragon had probably lost someone, too, which garnered the tiniest bit of sympathy even if it wasn't something he would mention aloud.
he didn't hold the same kind of resentment interest towards something so like a pet, an animal, as he did for humans. if they made judgments towards others, they were merely instinctual ones. ]I hope you
( ... )
[Izaya's assumption that his judgment was merely instinct couldn't have been more wrong, but with the dragon's inability to know what the man was thinking, the thought obviously went uncorrected. He trilled again, appreciatively, and raised his eyes to the man.]
[You too, he seemed to say without making a sound.]

What are you up to? Looking for something?

Someone or something? If it's someone you're looking for, you can use the Dreamberry, can't you? Err-- provided the other party can understand you.
