Ciel Phantomhive was a creature of habit, whether by choice or not; every day spent in his home, he went to bed in the same way, and awoke in the same way; curtains drawn, sunlight drifting over his face, and the voice of his butler softly laying out things from the day's schedule, to what kind of tea and pastries were his choices for breakfast. On this day, when Ciel felt himself awakening to none of these familiar sights or sounds, he knew something was amiss. The second thing his bleary mind registered was that he was not at all in a bed, nor wearing his usual nightshirt. Instead, he lay on something hard and bumpy, slanted, his body coiled on his side in the fetal position. He blinked, rubbed his eye -- the good one, not the one obstructed by his eyepatch, which he also realized ought not to have been there just yet, not so early in the morning. A cold gust of wind came alone then, and suddenly he was jolted awake completely. His cloak (having been draped in such a way that he'd though it was a blanket) blew back, and within his line of vision, he saw his top hat tumble and roll sideways.
"Wha--hey!" he cried, scrambling for it for a grand total of three seconds, before said top hat rolled right off the edge.
The edge. Frozen, hand poised to reach after the hat, Ciel dared to glance over this 'edge', the same one that his foot dangled off of. His heart skipped as he glance down, watching as his top hat rather floated to the street below. If he hadn't been full awake before, he was now, because he was keenly aware that he was somehow, somewhere, on a roof at least two stories from the solid ground.
"What is this?!" he couldn't help shouting, as she scuttled back from the edge. He had never liked heights, and a sudden, long fall was not his idea of a good time, especially with Sebastian nowhere in sight. Was this his idea of a joke?
"Sebastian, where are you?" he hissed. And then, louder, "Someone get me DOWN from here!"
