Hakkai thought it would be a good idea to get out of the house. He'd been holed up there for quite some time, long enough that every corner of his cottage was immaculate from his excessive cleaning. This time of year inevitably brought misery for him and he didn't want to expose his friends to it, not while they were all so happy.

He hadn't told anyone in Somarium about his birthday, so the 21st had passed by without incident. He was thankful for that. It brought back too many memories. Even now, as he sipped wine from a cup and watched the people dance, he didn't feel the need to participate. His mind was somewhere in the past with someone that he'd lost.

Distractedly, Irial glanced towards the new arrival, keeping toward the periphery of the dancing, a cup in his hand. He was rich with emotion that Irial could taste even form the distance between them, intrigued. Running his tongue along the inside of his teeth, the faery moved away from the spinning and swaying for a moment, approaching the stranger.

"Will you dance?" he asked, too direct for formal introductions or inquiring as to the man's unhappiness. Irial wondered if he could tempt him to join the crowd, or he was steadfast against it.

Hakkai was not expecting that. So abrupt... He wasn't sure what to say. Up until now he'd only been watching with no intention to join in the dance. ...but, hadn't he come here to interact with people? "Yes."

It felt a bit strange to step onto the dance floor with a someone he barely knew. Then again, there weren't many things in this place that weren't strange.

That was a quick and unexpected victory. Irial's eyes warmed, though his pleasure was not evident in his expression.

Eyes casually taking in the other man, Irial returned with him to thr circle of dancers celebrating in movement around the bonfire. The faery reached for the hand of the stranger, not content to share the same space. Irial led him in an unchoreagraphed dance, the razor blade around his neck shining against his bare chest.

Hakkai wasn't dead-set against dancing. And, after all, he was quite accustomed to acting calm, controlled, and personable; even during some of the worst moments in his life. It was easy enough to let the music take control of his body. Though his modest attire would suggest that he was quite the prudish individual, the movement in his hips told an entirely different story.

He kept an eye on the one who had invited him, gazing over the man's chest in a way that wasn't entirely uninterested. A strange mixture of hot and cold, this one. Irial seemed to have plenty of desire, yet little if any emotion. "Do you do this often?"

"When it pleases me," Irial replied, which is a very simple truth. He danced as often as he liked, and he also sought out strangers for essentially the same purpose, hoping to evoke something that he could feed on, take pleasure in.

Irial's mouth curved a little under the inspection of the other man's gaze. He craved the attention, demanded it of anyone around him, though his own attention was solely fixed on the stranger, even when his intense eyes weren't staring directly at him.

Claiming his hand, Irial spun Hakkai around as he might have done with a woman, enjoying it just the same. When they came together again, they stood closer, the faery having a slight height advantage to the other man.

"Hm, I'm afraid it doesn't please me very often." Hakkai thought that he might dance more if he were in a better mood, if he had a regular partner, or even if he were a more outgoing person, but he didn't have any of those things. Normally he was content to be ignored by others. However, he was pleased with the attention Irial gave him.

Being spun around was not something that he would have expected. Taking the 'female' role was somewhat embarrassing, but also... oddly thrilling. Hakkai smiled. He's never been pursued so vehemently before, but he seems to have decided that he likes it.

"Then let tonight change that," Irial said in a low voice against Hakkai's ear, smiling briefly. Then he led him around again, moving fluidly to the music, the fire flashing wickedly across his face.

"You think that you can please me?" Hakkai intended for the question to sound every bit as insinuative as it did. The words came out at an opportune moment, while they were close together. Then there was silence as they pulled apart. The conversation didn't seem to distract Hakkai from the dance at all. Rather, he was enjoying it. He didn't miss a single step.

The moment they were in close proximity again he added, "I'm not an easy person to please."

"I enjoy a challenge," Irial replied, mouth quirking. He was easily pleased, in that he took pleasure from unconventional things that might make others unhappy. But he was fairly sure they were both discussing a more common mode of pleasure, one he was not opposed to in the least.

He led Hakkai around again, kissing his shoulder once before drawing him back.

"That's interesting..." This kiss to Hakkai's shoulder made him both slightly uncomfortable and slightly aroused. He wasn't sure how far he wanted this to go. Flirting was one thing, but having sex with a man that he barely knew was another.

Then again, it wasn't healthy for him to be locking himself away either. The increase in his heart rate made it obvious that his body needed this. Perhaps his psyche did too. Besides, Hakkai couldn't resist flirting back. The moment he got a chance he bent down to suck on Irial's neck, however briefly. He also enjoyed a challenge. "...so do I."

Irial's smile was brief, dark and dangerous, hidden in the shadow of Hakkai's body as he moved with him in the dance. He did not anticipate a willing reaction, not the more he pressed, but Irial was pleased to be proven wrong, his fingertips slithering across the other man's side, his arm encircling his waist, the fire behind them warming the faery's body.

Irial pressed another fleeting kiss to his dance partner's throat, right over the excited point of his pulse. Oh, he could hear it over the cadence of the drums, the movement of the crowd, the cracking of the flames. Irial followed his heartbeat because he was focused on it, breathing in with care, savoring the taste of need on his tongue.

There was a part of Hakkai that was on edge, but any moral objections he might have had were quickly losing ground to the fire growing inside. He'd kept himself contained far too long, closed off in a place that no one else could touch, but he wasn't the type who could stay that way indefinitely.

Need was as apt a name as any for the lust that was quickly burning it's way through his inhibitions. His body was alive with it, making his skin tingle... or maybe that was just the wine. Well, no matter.

"So, my place or yours?"

"Mine is close," Irial supplied without hesitation, fingers curled around Hakkai's hip as he moved behind him now in the dance, glancing sidelong at the profile of his face.

Also, his home was empty and free of any sort of steel. It was very likely that, while choosing Hakkai's place for the man's own comfort, it would not be a place that welcomed the faery, too much metal around him acting as a slow poison to his body. That was no way indulge in an evening of pleasure, having to make an abrupt retreat before he succumbed to a fever and unconsciousness.

"Now?" Irial asked, lip nudging Hakkai's ear, kissing the tender lobe.

Hakkai's hand pressed Irial's fingers into his hip and he let his back slide against the faery's front. "All right." He agreed easily enough. It would be nice to get out of the cottage for awhile.

Irial might want to be careful which ear he licks though, there are three metal cuffs on Hakkai's left ear. These are essential for Hakkai to maintain his human appearance and keep his demonic powers in check, they're also the only thing he won't be taking off once they get back to Irial's place.

"Yes."

No? More's the pity.

Irial grinned in pleasure, thumb grazing Hakkai's hip before releasing his side, moving to claim his hand and lead him away from the dancing crowd. The sound of the drums faded as he walked briskly away from the firelight, leading the other man in the direction of the vacant mansion house.

Faeries loved to chase and to pursue, but a willing partner was exciting just the same. It was a rare thing, and considering Irial's condition since returning to Somarium, it was best to preserve his energy and his strength. He would still dance and drink and couple where he could, but his running days might have to be put on hold onto the poison had run its course, one way or another.
