The kitten had been the first thing to grab A.B.A's attention and caused her to stop. She had been just about to reach out and touch the feline when a man's angry voice haulted her and had her snapping her head up to look towards the person that was running at her.
Without Paracelsus around to protect her, A.B.A got to her feet in a rush and backstepped as quick as she could. Without looking where she was going, A.B.A squished a few more vegetables.
"I won't leave until I find who I'm looking for," she said while giving no real notice to the destruction she had caused.
A.B.A haulted the instant the man started to tell her to do so. She was used to people raising their voices at her, but usually it ended up in some sort of fight. Something she really wasn't in the mood for.
She broke eye contact with the angry man once the questions were asked and looked down at her dirty fingers and bandages instead. "I'm looking for my husband; Paracelsus. I couldn't find him nearby, so I thought he was trapped under the soil." She tried to brush off a very large brown patch that was stuck to her bandages.
"I fell asleep in China with him, but woke up here and he's gone. He could have easily been buried in the dirt."
A.B.A did as told, watching her feet for a change and making sure they didn't step on anything important. That seemed to be what had made the man so furious with her. She glanced at the feline from time to time as well just to make sure it wasn't some sort of animal that would attack for its master.
When A.B.A reached the man she stopped in front of him and was still very cautious, especially while standing so close. "Mmm, I'm sorry," she made sure to apologize. "I just wanted to be sure. You see, my dear husband is a weapon. He is a very lovely key. Until I can find a body for him I need to take care of him."
She glanced back at the semi-ruined garden, trying to see if maybe there was some glimmer of metal along the dirt. "He would not be able to move on his own if he was buried."
By the authoritive tone in the man's voice clearly it meant A.B.A's search had come to an end. At least as far as the garden went. She was sure she hadn't looked thouroughly enough, though.
"A.B.A," she answered and went onto apologize once more, "I'm sorry. This place is unfamiliar to me. I'm still learning things about the world. I didn't know that I could wake up in a different place than the one I fell asleep in. I've never seen humans do such a thing before."
A.B.A wasn't too keen on such information. It meant her search that she had worked so hard to continue had now come to a dead stop. Not to mention somewhere back in China, Paracelsus was all alone. Without being able to move anyone could grab him up if they wanted. She feared that woman Milia might return and take advantage of her absence.
"But, what if I do want to leave?" She stubbornly questioned. "How can a world keep me hostage?" She narrowed her eyes on the man before her, but not out of any real anger towards him. "Don't you wonder such things yourself?"
Well, at least there was a chance she could leave. A.B.A took some solace in that fact. She still didn't like the thought that she would end up returning. This place, Somarium, seemed to be rather finicky about its locals.
"Hmm?" A.B.A looked down at herself and the splotches of red blood on her bandages that was mixed with the soil. "Oh, no. It's not mine," she answered casually. She then looked back to Malik as her gaze went to his lost arm. "You look very injured, though."
A.B.A looked to where the man had gestured. Not realizing until that moment there was more to where she had landed than just the one village she was in. Clothing wasn't something she had ever tried to waste time on. She never really cared much for her own needs, but if she was alone she would need to take the advice of others.
At the comment about her health, A.B.A looked back up at the strange man and frowned. She wasn't quite sure what he meant until he had gestured towards her head. Only then did she reach up and touch the key that was there.
"Oh, that's been there." A.B.A felt along the key's surface with the tips of her fingers. "I was created with this inside of my head. It doesn't hurt. Do you want to touch it?" It didn't occur to her how awkward such a thing sounded.
A.B.A dropped her hands away from the key when the man seemed very disinterested in placing his own on it. She had gotten stares and very harsh critisim before during her travels, so none of it hurt her very much. She merely shrugged it off and was ready to let it slide off her back like water off a duck's.
When he looked to have a change of heart there was a brief, lopsided smile on A.B.A's face that made it obvious she rarely did such a thing. She was likely still getting used to it.
"It wouldn't bother me," she answered. "Not if you're curious about it."
