Since his promotion to the Somni Police Department's newly formed K9 Unit, bonding exercises had quickly integrated themselves as part of Akihiko's daily routine. Though his Akita had grown very attached to him in a short period of time, the officer knew he needed to work hard to keep the animal focused. Working under pressure in areas full of distractions was something he needed to constantly drill his dog on, which is why the city's dog park was turning into a regular stop during his patrol.
It was surprisingly crowded this afternoon, full of people with dogs, dogs running about on their own and people with no dogs to speak of, seemingly here to just enjoy being around animals. Many of the locals would nod and smile or offer the officer a wave of acknowledgment as they say him enter, and Akihiko would grant them a brief hello in return. With news of the annual apple harvest and varied gossip among the city folk, it was hard not to feel energized by the buzz everyone was creating.
