[the closer Irial got, the more Isabelle realised she needed him right then. Maybe not for actual reasons, but because of the tingling urge in the tips of her fingers to touch him, because of the recurring images in her head from the last time he was there. She'd done so well while he was gone, only thinking of him maybe once a week, but now that he was back? Far more, not that she'd ever breathe a word of it.

[She lay back spread-eagle on her bed, eyes closed and hair spread out in a black sheet. She wasn't waiting for him, per se; it was more a matter of hating herself for wanting the distraction from everything else on her mind. Of course, it meant that when he actually did slip through her window, Izzy didn't even notice - she was in her own thoughts at the time.]

[Irial straightened to his full height once he was inside the bedroom, eyes disregarding the dark interior, not interested in any detail outside of the still figure on the bed.

[He had not met a mortal like her since leaving Somarium the first time. A human was a human, simple as that. There were strong humans, even oddly fearless humans, but that only meant they were strong for a human; still nothing that might match the strength and power of a faerie. Isabelle, inasmuch as he understood, was still human, but her strength was something unique, courtesy of the ink and scarring on her body, perhaps also the nature of her bloodline. She may live the brief lifespan of a human, her scent for the most part registering as that of a mortal, but outside of these basic similiarities, the shadowhunter was definitely something he had not come across before, nor since ( ... )

[silent as he was, there was one thing that did manage to alert her to his presence there beside her: the sudden lightness that surrounded her at feeling his eyes run over her as they were wont to; a feeling of phantom fingers running over her scars and Marks alike, gently caressing her skin; the small jolt her stomach gave, flip flopping as it might in deeply rooted anticipation. Her eyes met his, showing only a flicker of surprise that he was so close. She was probably masochistic, she decided then, as she took in the details of his unchanged face.

[Her breath caught sometime before her eyes opened, and she let it out then in a slow sigh, pushing herself up to a sitting position, resisting - for now - the urge to reach out and touch him. She feigned nonchalance, as if it didn't matter whether he was there or not; it was easy to re-conjure thoughts of Meliorn and their relationship, the few similarities between both the fey.] I didn't hear you come in.

That was my intention. [Irial would like to have said 'I didn't wish to disturb you', but that was partly a lie. He wanted to be quiet and to take her unawares, but if she had been startled, the faery could not say he would not have enjoyed it. Her surprise, a brief feeling of fear, even a shot of anger would have appealed to him]

[for now, she wasn't giving him anything to feed off of. Not purposefully, of course; flickers of lust and desire crossed her more and more as she looked at him, tipping her head to one side before she finally pursed her lips and flicked her wrist.] So, are you just going to loom over me, or are you going to sit somewhere?

Are you inviting me to stay? [Not that he required the invitation, but it would please him all the same, to hear it]

[there was always the possibility of rising to her feet and convincing him to stay by other means, but for the time being, she just shrugged, giving him a small, charming smile.] Just make sure my brothers don't hear you.

I can be quiet. [Irial smiled vaguely, joining her in the unmade bed. He sat down on the yielding mattress, remembering another time when he lay down with her here. Had anything changed in the months that passed? There was distance between them now. Distance and new memories that he had no reason to share, though he was curious as to how she had spent her time]

Would they disturb you here?

[she turned towards him slightly, still resisting the tingling need to touch. She had put up a wall between them, a wall that had come to be when he toyed with her. He would probably do it again, given the opportunity. Isabelle just had to make sure he didn't get that.]

If they heard something, they might. They usually knock, though - they know I hate being disturbed.

You are fierce, and they respect it. [Irial said with something that sounded like admiration, his voice caressing where his hands did not, resting complacently against the bedspread]

[her mouth curved into a pleased smile, eyes tracing over him slowly. She recognised that tone when she heard it, and the compliment wasn't lost on her.] And what about you? Do you respect it? [a small pause, her head tilting.] Me?

I respect your space... [He gestured to the safe distance between them, at her behest] Though perhaps not your need for privacy. [Irial added, with an amused glance back to the window]

[more faery avoidance. What she expected, yes, but Izzy couldn't deny hoping for more.]

It's a start. Just as long as you don't wake me up in the middle of the night, we'll be just fine.

What keeps you awake now, a ghra?

Wouldn't you like to know. [a teasing tone, as she shifts slightly closer to him, closing the distance he was respecting before.]

I would like to hear it, in your voice. [He murmured, mouth softening]
