[He is strolling by when the call catches his attention. He turns, leaning on his cane, and smiles, tilting his head.]

My, my~ It must be that time of the month! Ought I extend a welcome or my condolences, I wonder?

[Is that guy talking to himself? This might be interesting to pursue further.]

Oh, hello. I seem to have wound up in this place somehow. Maybe you can tell me a little more about it than Kida-kun? You look like a smart fellow at least. [Better to make friends than enemies when you don't know where in the bloody hell you are.]

[Flattery has no effect. He simply retains his smile, arching an eyebrow.]

I am certain I am perfectly able to tell you about this place.

[But information is not free.]

[Izaya never thought he'd see the day he'd even consider buying information from someone. Of course, this consideration is short.]

Ah, but you require incentive I take it. In that case, I'll pass.

[Aaaaand a shrug of floppy sleeves.]

Most all actions require incentives. I apologize for your unfortunate assumption to the contrary, Sir. Though if you are so often erroneous, perhaps you would be better off not searching for the facts on your own! ♥

What's erroneous about concluding that a fellow citizen would freely offer his help to a newcomer? While it's true that it was an incorrect assumption in regards to you, in my experience, most people are [brainless] kind enough to hand out information like that for free.

Oh, it is hardly free, even then! The price merely varies from person to person, as I am sure you are well aware. After all, it would be so very silly to not put a price on something so priceless as information about this world.

But if the information is priceless than how can you assign it a price? Isn't the price in most cases just the satisfaction of having helped another person out? [Not that I'd accept satisfaction as the price for most information.]

Oh, priceless things often can have some form of price, wouldn't you say? Unless it is utterly worthless, that is.

Though if you consider satisfaction to be a price, I daresay it shall be easy to find yourself paid in full in a place such as this.
