Toothless supposed the Dreamberry might have been responsible for his sudden displacement, and the poor device was covered in dragon drool and the screen was cracked and it probably had stopped working altogether within thirty seconds of the dragon noticing it. This was wrong! It smelled wrong, it looked wrong, it felt wrong and he hadn't gone anywhere so it didn't make any sense for him to be here. Wherever here was.
He had been sleeping! Curled up neatly at the foot of a bed in a little house in Berk. He had started to wear tracks into the wood floor-- a sign that the new houses in Berk were starting to age with the constant dragon raids having ceased entirely (soon, it would be an old village with old houses instead of an old village with new houses). But when he woke up, there were no tracks, there was no bed, and he was asleep in a field instead of a house. And it was all wrong.
Most of all, he was by himself. Worst of all. He had been sleeping at the foot of Hiccup's bed (though only at the foot because if he slept in the bed he'd crush the boy, and that new metal foot of his was damn uncomfortable to lay on-- wouldn't he be surprised when he found Hiccup with both of his feet still in tact!) on the floor, and now the boy was nowhere to be found. The entire house was nowhere to be found.
Giving a final, somewhat vindictive crunch on the Dreamberry with his retractable teeth, the dragon flopped and sat, tail curled around him like an overgrown cat, and scowled at the destroyed mess at his feet. That would teach it.
